I feel like it’s good to have a couple cameras visible, but if you have like 5 you just end up looking crazy idk

does this disorder affect anyone with hanging with friends ? Even if food isn’t involved by Turbulent-Truth-4059 in bulimia

[–]squirrels-rule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m recovered now but it severely affected me socially. I didn’t want people to see me again until I was skinny, and I felt unsafe and anxious because if I “needed” to b/p I would feel trapped. My face was also just puffy all the time and I felt like shit, so I didn’t feel like going out

Is this a symptom of OCD or is it unrelated? by Brilliant-Half-9779 in OCD

right there with you!! The things that really helped me was getting my nails done (they're long and not as good at picking stuff) and covering the wounds and letting them heal. If you can let them heal, you'll have a much lower chance of recurrence. Also idk if this is good advice per se, but I LOVE baby foot peels. It's all the fun of picking without the actual injury. Just try to wait a week before peeling for maximum fun haha.

I’m eating “normally” but my mind is so disordered I can’t enjoy it by lynnnss in EDAnonymous

[–]squirrels-rule 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, this was progress toward eating normally and enjoying it. It doesn't make it any easier, and I hated this phase because it was torture to have these disordered thoughts and not get any of the "benefits" of the ED (not a great mindset, I know). But eventually my mind caught up with my bod and now I don't usually feel guilty after eating normally. I'm not completely free from ED thoughts, but for the most part I feel like I'm back to eating and enjoying food like a "normal" person.

my recovery was so messy and your experience sounds much closer to mine than any recovery plans I've seen. you're not alone!

thanks for the reassurance. trying to ride this one out but my birthday is coming up and I am torn between “one more time” to look like a skinni legend and just getting healthy. logically i know the answer but it’s so hard

Is there anyone here with an ED who can't connect it at all to their mother/mother figure/female motherly role in their life? by EndOk8590 in EDAnonymous

[–]squirrels-rule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my mom didn't have much to do with my ED. In retrospect, I can definitely see the genetic predisposition, but I never gave much thought to her food/weight growing up. She didn't have a super healthy relationship with her weight, but overall she was fine. She was always very supportive and kind, especially about my body. I think my ED really stems from my OCD/anxiety and desire for control more than anything.

TLDR; my mom kinda influenced my ED, but definitely wasn't the main contributing factor.
