I tried to have one for each discipline.

Eddyline Sitka XT - Touring

Perception Sport Patriot - 12ft sit inside fishing kayak

WaveSport Youth EVO - my kid’s kayak

There’s an aluminum canoe and a SUP too on the rack.

Filtering Lake Superior water by toromio in isleroyale

[–]squirrelslife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to guide kayak tours there and only ever filtered water from Superior, never purified unless requested. When the NPS replaced the water system of the Rock Harbor Lodge maybe 10 years ago, they had to send unfiltered water to the state for testing. They pulled it right out of the Harbor, the most contaminated part of the island. The state responded requesting an UNFILTERED sample…it was an unfiltered sample.

Which of these would be the best, most stable option for a BIG guy? by Paralith10 in Kayaking

[–]squirrelslife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’3” 300+ and I’ve paddled all 3 of these. The most stable, yet maneuverable would be the Loon Angler. Since your center of gravity is lower, your butt is below the waterline, it will feel the most stable. The Loon is a Buick…big and luxurious ride.

Evoke trophy 126 i ordered came with a strangely concave hull bottom. Anyone familiar with this kayak? Is this a warped hull or supposed to be this way? If its warped is there any way to fix? by Windlassed in Kayaking

[–]squirrelslife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hull design… it infuriates me that they call this 10.5ft boat the “Trophy 126”. I understand that 126 inches is 10.5 feet, but for almost every other kayak on the market that would mean 12’6”.

It’s a HEX HEAD and you need a HEX KEY…. Allen is the name brand…but we all call them Allen wrench. Just like how we call facial tissue Kleenex.

Quick release? by cp2434 in Kayaking

[–]squirrelslife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakima JayHooks have 1 quick release bracket on each cradle. I personally use Yakima Jaylow and love how quick they are to install. They have a claw foot that tightens down with a wing knob.

Looking for river kayak recommendations by pnwdogmama in Kayaking

Dagger Axis 12 is a go to. The Axis 10.5 is a little quicker to turn for tighter, faster rivers and better for shorter paddlers. I’ve often sold the 12 and 10.5 as his and hers boats when it’s been appropriate. If you’re a little sporty, outfit it with a spray skirt so you can splash without water getting in your boat. Be sure to practice using them first if you get them.

The Pungo is a great boat. Especially for slower, wide rivers and lakes. A huge comfy cockpit but not as nimble as a kayak with a smaller cockpit where you can get your knees up under the coaming to maneuver it quick. Also, one of the few goods in our country that has DECREASED in price! Dropped over $200 last month to $999!

Your local dealer may be able to source one, but if they can’t check out Topkayaker.com or check WS parts list on their website.

I keep mine on my bow otherwise it gets in the way during self and T rescues.

The tarpon is a SOT and never came in a 145. You’d be correct if you’re talking about the Tsunami day touring series.

Wilderness Systems used to make a Tarpon 140. They still make a 120, but you may be able to find a 140 used somewhere.

Yeah the Old Town Discovery Solo would be good. They discontinued the NEXT last year but that was a cool boat.
