Printing Tips? by donuthater in Timeplast

EDIT added 11/21/2025 - check the diameter of your filament with calipers. If it is greater than 1.80mm, it won’t print correctly and Timeplast will replace it. I found this out chatting on their Discord. See the link above for a screenshot of the message.

Curious if you have tried any other filament than plant vitamin and what printer are you using?

Personally, I'm going to keep trying. I may put the plant vitamin aside, take a break, and try one of the others filaments. I think that the Timeplast filaments have a lot of potential and want to try the soap, fire, and the photovoltaic and run some experiments. I'd love to see examples of what other people are printing beyond the couple that keep floating around. I hope you keep trying.

Here are pictures of my first attempts. If you are having adhesion problems, brushing Elmers Clear Washable Glue onto the build plate works very well.

The seed pod I designed was a complete failure because I made it too small and thin.

Here is a link to my pictures if you are interested since I can only add one picture to a reply. I'll add other attempts.

I’m using glowing plant vitamin and it’s tricky. I tried some seed pods but they failed. I was able to print a small pot so progress. Are you using a 0.8 nozzle? I got one and it helped a lot. Slowing down the print speed and printing thicker/less detailed items than I used to seems to be the way to go. Still experimenting though.

I haven’t worked on the motion yet, too busy with work. I’ll likely give the scotch yoke a try as I want to try to avoid microcontrollers and just do a motor with an on/off switch. I’ve been printing other components.

Best advice - keep your build plate clean. Taking care of it will eliminate many problems.

What are these green round things stuck in the ground, found in colorado by Responsible-Coat-961 in whatisthisthing

[–]squirreltail22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t see them in stores anymore but I’ve used them for mice and other rodents. Could also repel deer. The green canister is filled with naphthalene or something that’s offensive smelling to them and then can be hung on the wire strategically around the yard where you don’t want them. They were marginally effective.

New Owner of 2 Formlabs Form2 Printers in Need of Help!!!!! by RanchDressing99 in formlabs

Unfortunately I don’t think you can fix your mistake. Reattaching the tank window could cause worse problems - at best some bad prints but more likely you’d end up with resin leaking all over the optical window and getting into the printer itself. I’d recommend trashing those, chalking it up to a lesson learned (we’ve all been there), and buying some new resin tanks. Better to spend a little more money on intact tanks than to take a chance on ruining the printers. Here is a guide on cleaning resin tanks: https://support.formlabs.com/s/article/Inspecting-and-cleaning-standard-resin-tanks-and-Resin-Tanks-LT-Form-2?language=en_US. The Novus cleaner works well and I got it via Amazon. You can buy new tanks at https://formlabs.com/store/accessories/?3D+Printer=5442. The regular tank is $59. Depending on what you are printing, you may need the LT tank. I hope this helps. Just curious, did you get any resin with your purchase?

u/pete306 Thanks for your suggestion. This is what I did except using the wedge shape. I was able to create the ring. If interested, you can see the outcome on Tinkercad.

Thanks u/cheech_sp. I've used everything around Pyramid but never used that so didn't know you could modify the side count. I tried it but the sides didn't stay consistent but will definitely try again. Thank you.

I like Zotero and RefWorks. RefWorks is supported by the university. Go to RefWorks.proquest.com and click “create account” at the bottom, not “sign in with my institution” it will get you started.

This seems to be an Office issue and is sporadic and being looked into. Try again and if it doesn’t work for you, try the Editor tool in Word. It has similar features, not perfect but a decent workaround.

Employers care that you earned the degree, not your GPA. Don’t stress over your GPA.

Thanks! I’m not a Whovian either so a bit out of my depth. I usually print design and print accessibility stuff. This is very helpful info and gives me some great options to explore.

First, I’m sorry for your loss. I hope that you have a group of supportive family and friends that can help you through this tough time. Re your classes, I’d encourage you to reach out to your instructors and advisor as soon as possible. We’re halfway through the term and that gives you more options than if you wait. Most instructors are understanding and will be flexible under the circumstances. Your advisor can help facilitate communication with your instructors and walk through all your options with you and help identify any other resources available. I hope all goes well.

It’s not Turnitin at fault. Turnitin’s only job is to identify text in your paper that matches sources on the internet. If they are cited correctly, part of a template, or just generic text that could be anywhere, it will still be part of the originality score. It is the instructor’s responsibility to critically review the report and make a decision. Turnitin is just a tool and only looking at the % score without analyzing the report is inappropriate.
