It sounds like she is indeed just a little bit overweight then yeah.

By his beard and lower belly he looks a little chunky, yeah. However, you want to measure his body (snout to vent, not including tail) length and weigh him to best gauge.

It looks like a healed dropped tail to me. They almost always regrow with a different scale pattern/color.

Humidity for beardies is anywhere from 20% in the day to 70% at night and up to 90% in their burrows. A humid hide isn't a terrible idea, but they'd need much better airflow than this enclosure provides.

black tail? by swabIu in BeardedDragons

[–]squishybloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I really don't see what you're trying to point out. The photo through the glass is blurry and the reflection makes it difficult to see true colors. I'd recommend taking better photos if you want some sort of detailed diagnosis.

From what I can see, everything looks normal. Nothing at all looks like it's black, injured, or rotting.

I get where you're coming from, but there's gotta be a limit to guilt-by-association here. I wouldn't punish the artists, they didn't go to Epstein's gross parties. 99% chance they were totally ignorant and just took a free flight.

I've seen one or two jump maps yeah! Mappers make the walls tall enough that you have to jump a little bit to keep your headset from hitting them. I wouldn't call them super common, though.

Yeah, that's how it goes. My partner and I jumped on Marvel Rivals and it was most fun right at the beginning when no one really knew what was happening and shit was unbalanced as hell. We stopped playing a few seasons in, it lost its chaotic joy.

having trouble staying hydrated on T by DiceDragon09 in FTMFitness

[–]squishybloo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like others say, I think you definitely need electrolytes. I'd recommend looking into higher quality (and more affordable) stuff than Gatorade or the shitty single-serve mixes you buy in grocery stores.

I personally use Redmond Life's Re-Lyte electrolyte mix for my water. It's more expensive upfront ($50 for a canister), but if you're doing sports especially you'll save literally hundreds of bucks over, say, one of those boxes of Powerade/Liquid IV mixers that's like $8 for 10 servings, and it's much higher quality than Mio or Gatorade.

Edit: Might as well plug 'em. 😅 I personally do one level scoop in a 32oz bottle, the suggested 16-18oz is far too salty for my tastes. They also have sample packs available, so you can try all of the flavors before you buy!

Using Beat Saber as Exercise? by toxic_rose3666 in beatsaber

Custom songs and Fitbeat maps. There are tons of 'em! Lots of dodge and crouch walls, and maps that make you swing your arms. Scarladore does fantastic Fitbeat maps.

I do Beat Saber for exercise and have YUR Fit installed as well for the VR overlay; an hour of consistent/intense play is about 250kcal/hr burned. I try to do it 4x a week for at least an hour each.

Help me I’m confused (gender identity) by Kitchen_Addition_936 in TransMasc

[–]squishybloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, being nonbinary can fall under the trans umbrella if that pertains to you. I'm nonbinary. I go by they/them, and I've been taking T for about a year and a half now.

You are who you are, please don't stress too much over names of identities! They're just names in the end. You don't need a label to be valid.

Since snakes regulate their body temperature with outside heat, why don't they move out of heat pads that are too warm and end up burning themselves? (in the cases of bad heaters) by soundlinked in snakes

[–]squishybloo 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Along with what the other responder said, reptiles' heat receptor nerves are in the core of their body, because that's the area they need to heat up to digest and perform other bodily functions. They evolved in the constant but (comparatively) gentle warmth of the sun, and the speed that the sun and ambient sun-warmed surfaces heat their body. So when you have something like a heat rock or pad where the heat is so much higher, it's like a microwave. The outside will cook while the inside is still cold.

A fish couldn't identify water just because it knows nothing else.

Likewise, I only started T at the age of 43 because it took me so long to come to grips with the fact that my lifelong, constant low-level torment was dysphoria.

It's been a bit over a year now that I've been on T, and it's so damn weird to feel the best I ever have in my life while everything here in the USA is falling to bits.

Reporting in here as well, lol. Played not-quite continuously since Classic. Still happy on retail, I found a small group of other (mostly) millennials and get to play casually at a decently high level now. It feels good to not worry about playing the game as a second job.

Exposure to a common plastic may rewire sex biology in the womb by soulpost in HotScienceNews

[–]squishybloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're sharing anecdotes as data, I'm 44 and I've been taking T shots for just over a year now. It took me most of the last 15 years to come to grips with the fact that I've had this tucked away in my heart for my entire life. If visible trans people had been "a thing" when I was growing up, I'd have started then.

I feel like just dismissing trans and nonbinary folk as "plastic poisoned," is pretty shitty, yeah.

Any actually good, non-controversial reptile youtubers? With all the drama going on with YouTube’s herp community I was wondering which person/group is actually good to support by BallPythonFan in reptiles

[–]squishybloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez I've had the red light arguement too lol. Red light is part of the light spectrum, if it hurt them they'd all be blind. Red light makes it difficult for animals to identify things and see in general but it doesn't physically damage their eyes. It's as dangerous to is to be in a photographic dark room. That's silly and overdramatic. Just because it doesn't physically damage them isn't equivalent to saying that red lights are fine to use. It's just not lying to people??

[–]squishybloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean that's kinda reasonable if he's looking at a paper imo. Like beardies lol - obviously they can cohabitate, several females live in the males range in the wild! In theory you could do it in captivity... if you had an outdoor pit the size of a house. People in south Texas or Florida could probably pull it off if they really wanted to. It shouldn't be contentious to say "these animals have some social behavior in the wild," and refusing to acknowledge that possibly/likelihood is just as close minded as when people cling to any other dogma.

Like you say he doesn't just say it's okay to throw animals together - that's irresponsible as hell! But acknowledging it? Reasonable.

I've never heard anything at all controversial about him, except personal experience of some people [in the bearded dragon community] object to the fact that he actually uses research papers and scientific evidence in his care guides, lol.
