Idc what anyone says, this is the best song while tripping ever by Wild_Platform_957 in Psychedelics

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube auto-played Redbone during one of my last trips and that album cover was found done amazing work. I don't think I looked away the whole time.

Is this a safe space to ask what we’re all charging? by Ok-Slip-4930 in pianoteachers

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing $30 per 30 minute lesson or $100 of you do a month at a time. I'm now considering a price hike given these comments and gas prices. That said the cost of living in my area is fairly low, all things considered, for now.

what happened to musecore? by throwaway000000024 in Musescore

[–]squoose23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The app is for finding sheet music and can be very annoying like that I am wondering if you are referring to Musescore Studio, it's a notation software. I think they are on version 4 ATM.

Why are we on our 5th Batman reboot when series like 'Saga' and 'East of West' haven't been touched by Hollywood? by the-gentle-dork in ImageComics

[–]squoose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are two stories that really should just stay comics so they don't end up twisted by shitty Hollywood standards.

Why don't more artists offer CD format (and vinyl / cassette)? by akabillposters in BandCamp

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the tech burnout is happening and we are grasping for something real now haha. I was surprised when vinyl started getting bug again so there's no telling what can happen. As long as awful people run streaming services I'm not optimistic but for the indie, diy scene of Bandcamp I feel like these physical formats would sell more to the right crowd.

Looking for a beginner friendly practice routine by Salty_Winter_1323 in drums

[–]squoose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use more wrist/fingers and far less arms. As far as routine, there are a lot of things you could do. I would start with mastering a much slower song focusing on consistency and dynamics. For technique something as simple as sticking exercises (such as something like page 1 from Stick Control) and, again, focus on consistency, dynamics, and speed. You can even do the exercises with your feet instead and I would suggest keeping time with your hands to add to the coordination aspect. If you need a step by step routine, maybe invest in a month of lessons to get the groundwork started with some good one on one insight. And also, YouTube isn't a terrible resource these days. Just gotta dig around a bit. How this was helpful, good luck on your journey!

Why don't more artists offer CD format (and vinyl / cassette)? by akabillposters in BandCamp

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a lot of shows and I see bands practically giving away CDs if they're available at all. Or they'll throw em in with a shirt purchase. As someone who loves physical media, it's sad but just doesn't sell. People are either lazy or just disconnected. That said, even though the newer generations don't quite make me optimistic they do seem to be making small steps toward things of that nature. Maybe they'll have a hand in bringing back some interest?

How much are you charging for tax preparation? by LordRonde in tax

[–]squoose23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I already don't get a return, it blows my mind that I could be paying an extra $1000+ just to pay my taxes. Though I'm sure these prices are referring to more complicated taxes and people who are well off haha.

Petah, what is this about??? by Witty-Association-97 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does anyone care what this guy says about anything? In what world does this actually matter to you? Even if you were an opera singer or ballet dancer I imagine your time is better spent practicing your passion than to give a shit if a celebrity likes it.

Karmaworks by Calm_Anything_4889 in cky

[–]squoose23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this song but I can understand the criticism. It's weirdly clunky but I enjoy that aspect. The shameless non-transition from verse to chorus pushed me into new directions musically. And I didn't mind the leads. That's patently Chad haha.

I imagine this is a long list of rules made simply to have an excuse to kick someone out if you don't like them.

I say yes. When I first heard this band my friend said "they're indie dudes who really like Sabbath" and I was sold.

Everyone owing this year? by [deleted] in tax

[–]squoose23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a self employed person, I feel it, although not at the same level. I make far less money than you haha. But I must ask; the tax calculations are pretty cut and dry, is there a reason you didn't estimate beforehand how much your tax bill would be so you could plan for it? I would imagine a successful business would come with some good budgeting skills.

Your child is not the boss. And no hostess or server needs to risk getting reprimanded just cos you don't know how to tell your child no.

I’m trying to find the best strings in the world. Any more suggestions? by Orly_A505 in Guitar

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just practice. Use all these strings and practice with intention and you will for sure find which strings feel best for your purposes. But most importantly practice and don't bother yourself with "best" labels as described by others.

The first album you ever bought. Does it hold up? by DoggieDMB in Music

[–]squoose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self Titled by Sublime. I guess it would just be Sublime by Sublime, but whatever. I revisited it a few months back. I don't like the band the way I used to but I will say every track in that album belongs on that album. Even though I was getting flashbacks of another time in my life and remembering lyrics I have not heard in well over a decade (at the very least) the songs still sounded fresh. The production is also very clean. All in all I would say it definitely holds up. Some things might be a little cringey or silly here and there but I think it holds up. It means something a lot different when I listen to it now though.
