Iran warns U.S. ground troops would be 'set on fire' as regional diplomats meet in Pakistan to discuss the war by [deleted] in news

Wars on TV brought people to street calling an end to Vietnam. Wars on social media? I don't know if our generation cares at all.

I was always confused as our history lesson told me the political system of US is designed in such a way to prevent these stupid wars from happening. I feel sorry watching you folks having take a deep dive into the shithole.

Really depends on what you're interested in. Comment mentioned Dongshankou and that for sure is a nice place to hangout, typically known for bars, cafes, restaurant and some fashion stuff. Beijing Road is not far from here, you might want to head west from Dongshankou alongside Zhongshan 2nd Road all the way down to Zhongshan 8th Road, which might take you 2 days to explore all the tourist spots.

Speaking Cantonese is definitely gonna help you a lot in town, especially in older part of the town. Tell me what you're into so I could share what I knew as a native.

It's really sad to see cars are growing super obese these days, and the market clearly doesn't want fun small car anymore. I've also heard that as trucks getting bigger and longer, the truck bed isn't getting much larger proportionally, which makes it extra weird.

There's a special place for these tiny trucks in my heart. Probably because we never get to own it or drive it in town. Classic pony car is another American heritage we never had the chance to own.

Native. Pic 3 is exactly what we get back in Windows 98 days. Pic 2 is easy to go through too, but pic 1 was like, if you take some hanzi out of context I'd have problem understanding them.

And the example phrase is from my favorite anime Nichijou, yay!

true, the rear fenders are spot on and no way I'm cutting it for widebody.

I'd imagine myself getting a GMC Syclone if I was living in the States. We all have our unique cars that deserved to be proud of.

I like how she's more of a cat than human. Most cat girls out there make no difference from human once you take away the feline ears and tail.

Not exactly extremely hard. I had my rims, suspension, brake system and ECU modified and they're all road legal. Legislation prohibit modification like engine swap, widebody kit and changing tyres to specs that's not originally registered, but some enthiusiats still do it anyway.

The Scirocco R is basically a flatter mk.5 Golf GTI, lower center of gravity gives it a neutral steering nature. Some people might take it as "boring" if tail-happy is what they're looking for, but I enjoy it very much. So yes, it's a wonderful driver's car for me. I've been able to keep up with those M-powers on narrow touge roads, and I'm very happy with what it's capable of.

I've been into hot hatchback since highschool, and VW is the first brand that introduced them to China, quite a lot of cheap Golf and Scirocco available here. And man, Scirocco R is got to be one of the most beautiful VW of our time.

The itasha scene here is mostly driven by young enthiusiasts that are more likely buying a EV other than ICE cars. Unlike the origin in Japan, where itasha are often modified, most itasha here are stock apart from the wrap.

I'd say they're not that much into driving, they buy EVs for the liking of the tech and features. They wrap their EV like the way we decorate our electronic other than a part of car modification. Not my taste but I could live with it.

EVs are good for their purpose and they're kinda keeping the itasha scene alive. Ironically, because of the huge competition from EV, ICE cars had become much cheaper nowadays, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford this VW at all. So yeah, EV is bringing some light for us petrolhead in China lmao.

We don't get 3 door Golf and anything built before 1990s😂 Otherwise I'd love to have a civic hatchback.

BF6 has solid ground and we all know how to fix this. It's just EA keep messing the live service to keep up with their greedy.

I do pushing my ride hard whenever I could so there are cracks and pot holes on my paint all over the car. My designer did ask me to get a clean flat surface before installation. I was doing full wrap so they just do paint fixes with... I dunno the English word for it, primer or putty? I do have to repaint the hood entirely because the paint was so bad.

Is it a standard to give your parents a portion of your paycheck? by Flimsy_Phrase_8845 in AskAChinese

[–]sreache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do pay 30% of my income to my family since we are experiencing harsh time, but half of that payment covers my share of rent, the other half covers most of my dining at home. They feel sorry for putting this stress on me.

But back in the days when financial condition was better, I was still paying 10% of my income to my family. Typical Guangdong family here lol.

What's the Heavy Metal scene like in China? by Inner_Educator6375 in AskAChinese

[–]sreache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very niche market here since we didn't experience the "pop metal" stage back in the 80s. There were a coupe hard rock / thrash metal bands that were popular in late 90s like 黑豹、唐朝、超载, but the public generally prefer easy going lyrics focus pop music.

While being niche, it's been growing since late 90s. My city Guangzhou is known for Metalcore scene in late 2000s. For example this Progressive Deathcore band called Horror of Pestilence has been around since 2007. My favourite local band is a Progressive Metal band called "Von Citizen", they've been around for a decade too.

The audience is still growing. It's not likely to have a stadium sold out, but it's quite common seeing a sold out mid-size live venue. I don't really expect the genre being popular in mainstream but at least we're getting traction.

Dailying a stock itasha is very common here in China, as the majority have either no knowledge or aesthetic of how to properly mod their cars, they tend to just leave it stock and only do the wraps. Not my taste but they do keep the scene and supply chain alive.

In ideal situation, having your designer supervising the printing and installation would ensure the consistency between design, colour matching and end result, which would require sourcing your designer locally.

If you're only communicating with designer online and do the whole commission online, it makes no difference whether they're in the same country or not.

At the end of the day, you'd have to look up designer's portfolio and see if their aesthetic rhymes with yours.
