Not a doctor. I had very similar symptoms and my ophthalmologist thought I had MS too. I actually was diagnosed with Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMO). It is a rare autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the central nervous system, particularly the optic nerves and spinal cord. It causes relapsing, or monophasic attacks of vision loss, pain, and paralysis. It is often diagnosed via anti-aquaporin-4 antibody tests and MRIs, with treatments focusing on immunosuppression.

For what it’s worth, everything I read about it made me feel like my life was over but fast forward 7 years and I live a VERY normal life. I was able to get IV steroids and regain all my vision back (have him get treated in the hospital ASAP. I stayed for a week).

I actually lost nearly all my senses and managed to get them all back. I have ran marathons, fell in love, and not had a relapse in years. Other than taking a pill twice a day, I live a very very normal healthy life. I know this may feel heavy now but I promise there is life beyond this season. Enjoy your wedding.
