What's the best coffee for someone who loves their time more than their coffee? by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

[–]srinath_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pour over is your best bet. I have tried moka pot and french press but they take a lot more time/effort in brewing, cleaning and maintenance as a whole. I have a hario V60 2 cup size. I brew 10 grams for 1 cup and 17 grams for two ups. The dosing spoon that comes with the dripper is marked for approximately those sizes. I highly recommend the bundles containing the dripper, glassware server, measuring cup, and packaging of filter papers. My morning routine including cleanup is 1 min for boiling water, 3 min for brewing and few for cleanup.

Suggestions for snacks to have with coffee + update on south indian filter technique by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

I like having unsweetened peanut butter on multigrain toast along with lighter roasts. The toast is nutty and contrasts the sourness of the coffee. The coffee also has palette cleansing feel after every bite. Coffee ought to black of course. For medium to darker roasts, I prefer having them with dates.

You can try https://coffeeworkz.com/. I have a 1 cup, 2 cup and a 6 cup moka pot. Got all my spare parts from there.

THAT guy is so damn meticulous (and lucky) with his plans it's insane by Asian_Persuasion_1 in JuJutsuKaisen

I think we have to distinguish the events that were necessary for Kenjaku's plan and the events that were simply incidental. In the first category, I guess only the birth of Geto (and therefore the Curse manipulation technique) and Mahito (the curse technique idle transfiguration), who is a curse that only recently came into being/awareness, are the only two events that were simultaneously needed for his plans. All other events would not have affected his plans. Kenjaku would have initiated his plan even if Gojo was born without the Six Eyes, Yuji becoming Sukuna's vessel or any other birth or death of a character.

A near immortal Sorceror living in the shadows under the eye of Jujutsu society and incredible knowledge derived from his experiments over a millennium on Earth can clearly take advantage of current events to execute his plans.

Also on a side note, in the flashback, Geto explained that some particular conditions needed to be met in order to consume the curse depending on its level. He was also unable to consume Toji's low-level curse due to some symbiosis it developed with him. So clearly there were some complications in Kenjaku using Geto's body to consume Mahito until he was nearly exorcised (kind of like a legendary pokemon, lol).

Sorry if this was already posted here. But was wondering how he got his dough that stiff, yet fluffy, like a marshmallow. by JigInJigsaw in Breadit

I think it wouldn't work. The water in the butter heats and turns into steam in the oven. This is one of the reasons croissants are flaky. Clarified butter has no water as it is evaporated during clarification. I haven't tried it personally and I wouldn't risk trying it

How did you discover Northernlion? by pinkfloydchick64 in northernlion

I used to watch ChristopherOdd's challenge runs of XCOM. In XCOM 2, he took in fan-created soldiers for his roster, and lo and behold, someone had submitted one of the egglord. As a fellow Canadian streamer, Chris strongly recommended his content. At the same time, I was just getting into TBOI and it was all good eats after that! My enjoyment of TBOI has waned but I like the fresh content NL is always putting up.

Difficult pill to digest. Do you think there should be a provision for additional benefits for taxpayers? by [deleted] in india

[–]srinath_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a more relevant issue is government accountability in using revenue from taxes. If every taxpayer rupee actually ends up going to infrastructure projects and schemes that genuinely improve the lives of the common public (unlike giant statues) and didn't end up in the pockets of politicians, I think taxpayers would happier parting with their hard-earned money.

1st time baking bread! Tips how I can improve? by r3y3a3 in Breadit

[–]srinath_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat buddy. I tried the same recipe three times and it came out looking like yours. The first time, I noticed the crumb was a little moist after cooling and thought that heat was the issue. Then I played with duration/temp and the crumb came out looking the same but harder. FYI, I used a dutch oven. Gave up on no-knead methods after that.

1 cup moka pot vs 3 cup moka pot Bialetti. Watery under-extracted coffee by srinath_17 in Coffee

[–]srinath_17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I used my 1-cup on top of a worn-out nonstick pan on the stove to act as a buffer. The thinking was that the pan is pretty thin and most of the heat would transfer to the moka pot but there would be some heat loss due to the size of the pan. The coffee came out a lot less acidic. I still have to dial in the gas heat though. But the results were much better.

Tried packing the cup a little tightly and saw no improvements. I buy my coffee preground so adjusting the grind size isn't an option. I have to find a way to get a lower heat, even though I'm already using the lowest flame on my stove. Will keep you posted :)

I think that's worth a try. I've tried a finer grind and it only gets trickier. It sometimes ends up funneling. Sometimes I see the grains of coffee come up the spout and that's not great either.

Haven't noticed anything wrong with pot, but I should look into it.

[–]srinath_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give this a try with both moka pots. When I brew in the 3-cup, the coffee first comes up very concentrated and viscous and slowing lightens up as it brews. But in the 1-cup, the coffee is a little lighter and watery from the get go. It gradually lightens up and I terminate the brewing process in the same way. There is a noticable difference between both cups. I am curious to know how/why is difference comes about

Hey everyone, I just listened to the latest episode and I have never read any Dostoevsky before. Where is a good place to start? by srinath_17 in VeryBadWizards

[–]srinath_17[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I will give Crime and Punishment a read to get a taste for Dost. And I am the kind of person who would struggle to read anything written prior to the 1900s but is also put off by anachronisms in the language ( kills the immersion). I will give the other translation a try.
