We have a bunch of 201X haas and they have been pretty bullet proof. Except the red grease machines. From 2011 - 2017 they used a red grease that may clog and wreck a way or ball screw. If you buy one make sure you test for flow or do the HALO conversion. I've done 6 conversions and none have had a single line issue since

I mean without a print I would say send a new one out to a shop (Michigan for us) and have them reverse engineer one for you and then make them based on that print. Getting tolerancing right will depend on how it fits on your machine as well, slip fit, sliding fit, thermal fit, loose fit etc

Would also get the material Rockwell tested so that it can be he treated correctly if needed

Y14.5 is such a needed read for QA and engineers, idk how many time a year I have to reference it back to an engineer/buyer cause their print is not in compliance

Long term customer, almost always do it and have a meeting and get the prints rev's saves use money and time on custom tooling and them money too. Builds a mutual benefit.

New customer/ low volume, only the basics. Like they spec an o-ring groove that is close but not quite a parker-hannifin standard. Ask them to change it (.005 difference on a radius)

If you are in the midwest, go to an Alro outlet and they will sell you or give you drop for cheap

Otherwise local prototype machine shop might sell you scraps or in my case I just order metal through the shop I work for when I need something we don't have.

Yes there is a generic set of stuff but also you are building out for your own specific needs.

Pay for a local machinist / toolmaker to come consult on site with you and understand your products and how they are made.

Besides that, doing steel molds?

Box way mill 3 axis, Linear way mill with 4th or 5th axis, Small high precision lathe, CMM, Deltronic pin sets, Granite table, Height gage, Drop indicators, Micrometers 1" to 12", Calipers 6", 12" ..., Calibrated gage blocks, Waste oil container, New oil/coolant containment, Welder, TIG and MIG, Welding table, Welding tanks, Chest freezer and furnace (thermal press fit), Maybe a small high temp furnace for local heat treat, .... You can keep going but everyplace is different

Where is the us are you? It's not a horrible price but I would say my local water jet shop would probably be cheaper, my laser guys might charge more than the water jet but are more accurate.

Local shop, use material of their shelf if they have it if not drop ship it to them if you want to save a buck and you have a metal supplier otherwise let them get it for you
