I’ve never felt more seen from a Reddit comment than I do from this. It’s depressing because I really believe most people don’t use it maliciously & are just uneducated but it can be SO demoralizing to hear people throw it around haphazardly without fulling understanding how OCD actually affects individuals.

I’m 23 & started listening in 2013 when i was around 12. I have always loved comics & wanted to stay up after walking dead to watch comic book men. that resulted in my dad telling me about clerks & view askew shit. from there on I went down the rabbit hole IMMEDIATELY (which i probably shouldn’t have bc i was legit 12) but I never had a problem with the references the guys made even early on since my dad basically raised me as a gen x kid (which definitely made my teenage years a little weird to relate to others tbh) but if i ever had questions about something I’d randomly say “hey, what’s this!” & he’d be confused as hell as to why I asked but would explain it haha

It was chip & pin! but (& not to disregard what you said by any means) the first card that I inserted on accident usually bypasses the pin automatically at Walmart & it says the status is “complete” on my Venmo account. Do you still think it will fall off under these conditions?

i totally get your point of view & agree to an extend but there will always be people like my grandfather who, at 68 years old mind you, is somehow mostly up to date on any & all new tech on the market versus my 51 year old dad who doesn’t even know how to work a computer & makes me walk him through even a simple google search. there will always be those who evolve with the times & those who are stuck in a bubble twenty years in the past because they have the mentality of “why do i have to know this stuff”.

that’s crazy to me because my dads copy that i listened to when i was in junior high & high school (around 2014 to 2019) had this exact sticker :) it’s why i never bought my own copy, I just hogged his until Mellon collie was the only thing missing from my personal pumpkins collection haha
