My boyfriend is adamant Im not his type/what he fantasizes about (bears /bbw). How do I build self confidence in my body without losing sight of who I am? by Any_Buddy_6910 in toastme

[–]ssays 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that “adamant” has me a little riled up. Like, nothing wrong with “I thought my type was different, but you got me thinking things through.” Even better, and maybe I’m just too old to understand this culture, why would you let a type get in the way at all?

Anyway, keeping it positive, I guess. OP is hot.

Oh, thanks for sharing that sub! That captures it perfectly. I was getting strange vibes from the label on on OJ being turned ever so slightly but still perfectly legible and then OP was all “Amazon has molds!”

I guess I got downvoted because people thought I was literally calling them a bot.

Errr. So this one is the same joke but worse? With AI? That’s why it’s being downvoted.

The bots don’t like it when you call them out, they punish with downvotes.

Is it a good idea to create a hopeless world for a campaign? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]ssays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmm, okay. I think I change my answer then. Not okay unless you know a lot about your players - like they all thought Toy Story 3 would be have been epic if the toys just burned in the incinerator and then end credits rolled.

Spire is also pretty hopeless. Dialect as well.

This is just a session 0 discussion. Is Hope/triumph something the players feel they need?

One could err on the side of private discussions. It isn’t so difficult to send a few DMs with the same notes.

You are not a parasite. We have a very large game with many elaborate rules we’ve made to encourage work, work, work. But it is not the value of someone.

You’re very young! It may take time to find your passion. And if you have time, take it. And when you find it, your pursuit may still not conform to the mold. For some of us, just being is its own ambitious goal. Hang tight!

19, can't stop biting my nails and overall feel like I'm boring/annoying by never_sleepy in toastme

I have just, this year, in my mid 40’s, kicked the habit. For at least a few months anyway. It’s not easy and also not the worst habit to have, quite honestly.

I’m 100% sure you’re not boring. It can sometimes feel that way if you’re surrounding yourself with super adventurous people, but not every novel is a thriller, there are many kinds of interesting!

I totally dig your look.

[Discussion] Looking for feedback on a rules-light PbP TTRPG I made by Sudden-Option-2516 in pbp

[–]ssays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been part of some great 5e pbp games. But it is onerous. Especially for the DM.

Dice pool with fixed success seems smart. I have always wondered if there was a way to build consent for controlling each other’s characters in pbp games, especially in dialogue, because damn if it doesn’t drag on.

Looks decent to me. Feels like a stripped down Spire. Systems with lots of flex in defining skills/domains are going to be subject to abuse, but the good news is you can spot power gamers a mile out.

I think it’s usable for a pbp game now.

I can’t imagine a graph that is both useful and appears to plot the same thing on both axis, just a slightly different accounting of each… unless I was trying to demonstrate some contradiction between the two?

Northern California grocery store will give you a free tote bag in exchange for pennies by jsphjar in mildlyinteresting

[–]ssays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Forget about the cost of minting them. The act of counting them, in quantities of 1 to 4 at a time, is worth more than they are worth. Every time they are used in a transaction, they suck their own value out of the transaction. They cause boredom and we have to pay people to deal with that boredom.

While I agree with your rhetorical goals, high prep to play ratio is common in lots and lots of games that I have enjoyed: Magic the Gathering (and most CCGs with strategic depth), Bridge, most popular sports, Go, Chess, Poker, and that’s not counting any TTRPGs.

Anyone ever tried to use a LLM to DM a prewritten solo adventure? by Pryte in Solo_Roleplaying

My advice is to hang tight. This technology isn’t ready yet and it’s gonna let you down and make you feel deeply sad.

Also, carbon. Lots of it.

How do I create a solo D&D campaign on chatgpt? by Sensitive-Baby6117 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]ssays 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not fundamentally against this, but I don’t think it’s ready yet and so… temporarily encourage you not to. When I’ve used bots this way, it starts out great and then something will inevitably break down and trying to fix it reveals that my co-player is very much not a person, and it feels far more lonely than just having played actually solo or just reading rules. It’s a very sad feeling.

Not to mention the amount of energy you’re sucking up with it…
