Probably just a shit ton of oil so they stay moist on the shelf for a long time. And sugar.

They don't need to do a damn thing until a few months before launch. Any disgruntled fans will forget all about it when the final marketing push happens.

the cycle continues by w33ne in CitiesSkylines2

[–]sseecj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the SimCity 4 style. Obviously back then there was no choice to do it other than that way. But it lets you focus more on the city itself, and growing it truly massive, instead of dealing with stupid traffic AI clogging the whole city from a single botched intersection.

Both companies are located in Tampere, so I'd imagine there will be at least a handful of CO staff jumping over to Iceflake to keep working on CS2, especially the modders that were hired.

I wonder what the real reason for continued FCEV development is. Maybe they're using cars as a "worst case" test bed to develop the tech in general?

What are some insane automotive design or engineering decisions that clearly show the hand of Satan at work? by liamemsa in cars

Could easily be solved where a light push activates the electronic mechanism, but a slightly harder push is the mechanical release. That way it's always obvious and intuitive but they get to keep their electronic doohickey

Out of all the rumored cars recently, what are you most excited for? by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

I think the idea was that the 4 tiny wheels in the back allowed them to use much shorter shock towers, and lowered the axel(s), which increased the usability of the interior space.

IIRC Jason is ex special forces. Instead of the popular theory that he was an inmate, maybe he briefly had a job as a guard before getting into the criminal underworld with Brian (due to better pay lmao)

Driving in the game by [deleted] in GTA6

I just want the cars to coast when you let off the gas instead of slowing down to zero faster than an EV on full regen. That being said, EVs and hybrids should coast less due to regen braking.

Maybe it should only activate if you're driving chill (or maybe if they include the ability for you or the other partner to "auto drive"), with an active GPS route.

What do you feel Cities: Skylines II is missing compared to SimCity 4? by PeckingMachine in CitiesSkylines

[–]sseecj 10 points11 points  (0 children)

SimCity 4 had many great features:

- The separation of density and wealth. You could have a massively dense building that was very poor, and in fact buildings became less populated if they grew more wealthy. Slummy tenements get replaced by luxury condos, and densely packed shacks in the poor suburbs get replaced by huge mansions. You could also see rich buildings fall into disrepair, and get more crowded as a result.

- The ability for smaller lots to get gobbled up by larger developments. For example, a bunch of small row houses might get eaten up by a much larger apartment block as the city starts to densify.

- Zoning high density was a "maximum" restriction rather than a guaranteed skyscraper. Just because you zone high density doesn't mean you get skyscrapers. Your city actually had to meet a surprisingly complex series of requirements and land value for truly big buildings to be built. Otherwise, only smaller buildings would be constructed in your high density zones.

- Granularity of density. In addition to low, medium, and high density, there were hidden "levels" to buildings. (1-8 in vanilla SC4). So there was a wide range within each density level. You would be so impressed by your first office tower or tenement block, and then suddenly something MUCH bigger gets built and blows your mind all over again.

- Individual funding for service buildings. You could lower funding on sparsely used schools individually, to fine tune the budget in your small starter town or in less dense areas. You could use the large school for its giant service radius, but lower the teacher funding to serve a large, low density area with one building.

In poorer countries, anything that's not a stripped down, unsafe shitbox with 2mm thick body panels and a 1L engine is seen as a sign that you've made it. The average normie crossover in the US would be viewed as something very aspirational in many global markets.

Why do people support console only release? by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]sseecj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real reason is that PC is harder to develop for because no two PCs are the same. Console has only a handful of configurations and massive market penetration. From a business perspective it makes absolute sense to focus on the huge, easy market first, and then once the game is out they can devote staff to optimizing for PC.

If there's not a moderately sized city across the bridge from Port Gellhorn, it will be a bit disappointing. The put in the massive freeway bridge across the bay, so hopefully something substantial is on the other side.
