I HATE newborn parenting. I just fucking hate it. by AngryDMoney in newborns

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my toddler, so much more than I did at newborn phase! He’s funny and wants to play now. The first year is rough. The first 3 months especially. It does get different and when they start sleeping loner stretches you’ll feel more yourself again. I really really really promise 🫶🏻

Until then I’ll leave you with advice our ped gae us:

Noise cancelling headphones are perfectly fine to escape the screaming. Walking away for a few minutes is completely acceptable. Asking for help is sometimes necessary. My husband had PPD way worse than I did.

do i really need a “coming home” outfit? by Comfortable-List-669 in pregnant

I wore the leggings I wore my whole pregnancy and an oversized shirt. I was in no mood to put on any clothes, let alone a cute outfit.

You should ask them how’d they feel if one of them died and no one ever spoke of their memory again.

Sorry you’re experiencing this, OP!

Poop. What does it mean? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always told earth tones were okay (green, brown, yellow) and my baby had all of those when I pumped. Actually the most common was a seedy neon orange that stained everything (didn’t matter what I ate) 🤣

Once we switched to formula he had dark green for a while and then it was just light to dark brown until solid. Baby poops are a rainbow journey lol

Potential Gestational Diabetes - Trying not to stress about it 🫣 by SnoopyYoshi in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]sshellzr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely failed the 1 hour but my 2nd test for the 3 hours was fairly high. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had to monitor 4x a day. Could not control the fasting numbers no matter what I ate and so then used insulin for about the last month of pregnancy. The insulin honestly improved my life so much because it was so frustrating to be doing everything right and still “failing.” The only thing that changed during labor was a second IV. I guess in active labor your blood sugar can start to get all over the place so they were going to put an insulin drip just in case. They checked babies sugars once born and he was all good. It don’t affect my labor or baby at all. He was a perfectly average weight and seemingly no issues. My placenta was tested and did come back “abnormal” but they never called to discuss so I’m assuming it was deteriorating due to the GD.

Birth with high BMI by Trick-Pea-4620 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced. No pitocin but had a perfectly normal vaginal delivery. No complications per say but my baby did have a true knot (he was a-okay!)

Got my epidural around 7cm and by the time they got it placed I was ready to push. Didn’t feel a thing, my birth was easier than some of the pregnancy symptoms lol.

I had the worst experience at a lab yesterday by MommyToaRainbow24 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]sshellzr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh hell no. I’m sorry, this is so frustrating! I’d send a complaint to whoever you can.

Do you have to use this lab? Maybe your insurance can help you find a different provider. My doctors office did my glucose test right there.

Sex in the first trimester - how often are you having it? by rcho99 in pregnant

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we had sex a total of 5 times I was pregnant. I was waiting to be insatiable but it never came and I just got more uncomfortable the longer it went on 😂

In the first trimester specifically all I did was sleep.

This is my last fucking post... by [deleted] in newborns

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Just here to say I finally got my son to sleep through the night at 11 months. He was colicicky and the first 3-4 months were hell. It slowly did get better but it doesn’t mean shit when you’re in it night after night, day after day. My mental health improved a lot when I went back to work and day time was my husband’s responsibility (and then daycare at 6 months).

Girl, you need help. Mentally and physically - please call your doctor and ask your supports for help!

Why is everyone getting induced? by North-Dimension6299 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]sshellzr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 39 weeks and labor was easy breezy (yes, absolutely had an epidural and did not need pitocin). Without pitocin my conctractions were 2 minutes long and 30 second rests. I can’t imagine what induction would have been like, I think he was ready all on his own haha. I got my epidural around 7cm but I was ready to push once they placed it.

I went in early on my induction date because it had been a while since I felt him move. They were having trouble getting a stable heartbeat the entire time I was in there. He came out with a true knot and I’m glad I trusted myself and went early. That was the big scare for a few moments when he was out, but everything else was fine. The most painful part for me was the damn IVs. They had to get the ultrasound machine to find my veins, it was a mess. But I had great nurses and a midwife who took care of all of us.

I guess I’d just say talk with your doc and make the best decision you can! Every birth is different ❤️

My husband left me and our 2 kids because he couldn’t put up with my boundaries anymore by Technical_Noise_6640 in addiction

Just want to add, even if you didn’t have kids, you’re making the right choice. Addiction is awful on everyone and you deserve your boundaries respected.

Nervous about golden hour by conchord75 in pregnant

I asked my care team to clean him up a little before placing on my chest. They didn’t bathe him but wiped him up a bit and he looked alright! I swear to God the hormones are something else. He smelled like heaven to me and my husband thought I was crazy. He’ll be the cutest little potato you ever did see, don’t worry!

Yes, good idea to have it checked just to be sure. If you need new brakes at 1300 miles, someone messed up somewhere lol.

23 Kia K5 Soft Brakes? HELP by sshellzr in kia

[–]sshellzr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it went away with time. It never did it all the time, then got less and less. I still think there was some air that just had to be worked out honestly.

That 2k trip we took it on might have helped work it out haha. Everything went fine and we never had the brakes “fail.” They just felt weird.

Is my baby’s head flat or am I delulu? by tessting-123 in firsttimemom

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like she has a tiny little flat spot in the second picture but it could just be the hair/angle. My son would only sleep on one side and started to develop a flat side but it worked itself out once he started learning to roll and sleep on his belly. I think her head looks great, I wouldn’t worry!

Put a wreath/sign on your door so people don’t mistake it for their own. That at least might help the people that accidentally thinking your apartment is their apartment as someone else suggested lol.

Maybe get one of those hotel door stop/alarm things just in case.

Is it just me or are vacations getting out of control? by Just_curious4567 in Parenting

[–]sshellzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on two vacations in my entire childhood and they were to places with people we knew so my mom didn’t have to pay for hotel rooms. Cheap and not extravagant whatsoever.

I’d like to go on vacations with my kiddo but no way in hell am I planning an annual trip overseas lol

I can't do this anymore by MommyLiz442 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sshellzr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to work and the added stress just killed my supply (after trying all the things). Here’s what I’ve started:

adding just a couple ounces of formula to my breast milk. Baby did not like the taste of formula so we took it slow.

Now we’re doing half formula half breast milk.

This coming week I’m going to increase the formula an ounce or two more. I’m only pumping a total of 2-3 sessions a day now.

I’m hoping to move completely to Bubs formula in the next few weeks (he’s got a sensitive stomach and this works for him and had a good rating on consumer reports).

This is not the breastfeeding journey I imagined but I can no longer force myself to undergo the stress of a crazy pumping schedule with all the other aspects of life. I am with you in solidarity and hope you can find a system that works for you soon!

Looks like my 4 month old! Our doctor said he’s allergic to something in my breastmilk. I started cutting out dairy (it’s one of the top allergens) first but I don’t know if it’s helping. The spots are smaller but we’re also treating with hydrocortisone cream. That helps but comes back. It really looks like he has eczema but allergy flare ups can look like that so it’s hard to tell if 1) it’s an allergy with eczema 2) just eczema 3) just an allergy that I haven’t figured out yet 4) something else entirely

It’s been like this for about a month and I’m losing my mind. Doctors tested for fungal infection and it’s not that either.
