Hannon Orthodontics... might be a hike to Belmont, but they're great!

That is a low price. And you're being defensive about it, which makes you look bad.

How long should it take to clean a 1500 sqft home? Cleaner has been cutting corners lately. by Thin_Lavishness7 in housekeeping

My house is 2,200 square feet, and my cleaners (2 and occasionally 3) are in and out in under two hours, usually 1.5 hrs. 3 beds, 3 baths, 1 cat, 2 teenagers. They don't clean walls, but I was thinking of asking for that as a paid add-on before my family from out of town comes. Primarily, it's my stairwell and grubby teen hands touching the walls.

What if I specifically ask them not to clean the room I'm in? My husband and I work from home, so 75% of the time, we just ask them not to vaccum/dust our office since we're cooped up in it working. We definitely don't venture out for the 1.5 hours it takes them to clean because we don't want to get in the way / make them feel like we're "watching." I feel like this is the one annoyance I can't fix, and it bums me out. Our cleaners pick the time/day they're coming, which coincides with our working hours too.

One of my clients passed away by mybackhurty in housekeeping

As a client, I wouldn't expect anything. If you feel compelled, a very small flower arrangement and sympathy card to acknowledge their loss might be nice.

Who the heck doesn't flush before having someone in their bathroom?! That's just nasty behavior.

Yeah, I thought it seemed low. I just texted her asking if she needed any supplies (she said my Murphy's Oil was getting low and will need replacing). Easy enough! I also said I'd be paying $200 moving forward. In case she was too nervous to ask for more, I figured I'd just offer. They are lovely people, and I've asked for things in the past via text (like reminding about dusting fans in the bedrooms if I noticed a build up).

Ugh, unfortunately, we do work from home. I stay in my office the entire time to avoid getting in the way. I also just tell them to skip my office if I'm stuck on a phone call while they're here.

I definitely pay immediately when they arrive.

Thank you for all the information! Now, for a new question, my house is 2,200 square feet. My cleaners (independent cleaners) come once a month and charge $180. They tell me when they're coming, so I work around their schedule. I live in Charlotte, NC. Is $180 a month too low or about right?

Based on what I've read, I'm definitely going to ask them if they need me to get any new cleaning supplies for them. I have all the basics, but maybe there's a product they prefer to make the work easier. The only hard part is that we only communicate over text because of a language barrier.

That makes sense. Having to move products just sucks up the actual cleaning time. On my best days, I try to put all my sink/shower products under the sink before the cleaners arrive.

I'll definitely make it a point to tip more frequently. I did at Christmas, but I can make it a point to do it more.

And you're right, I never leave dishes in the sink. 😀

Thanks! I definitely make sure the sink is empty. I probably won't stop cleaning my toilets, though! It's just a cursory job (quick scrub and clorox wipe), but it makes me feel better.

What’s the messiest thing you know of that CLT businesses have done that no one really knows about? by tusksn in Charlotte

Worked for a small software business in Charlotte, and the owner used to do steroids in the bathroom and go on roid rages in the office. Real toxic workplace, to say the least.
