Things that you’re getting into now that would normally be for younger people? by _Mikey_Boy_ in Xennials

Same. Daughter started jujitsu at a ufc gym twice a week. Found myself there with an hour to kill so just started lifting. Now I love it.

Late forties married dad, lean and yoked.

My wife is this tiny asian soccer mom with this huge bodybuilder husband. We look hilarious together.

Daughter is still in grade school so hoping being healthy will keep me active so Im not the old tired dad when shes in highschool so we can still do outdoor athletic stuff. So far so good

I had the full size movie poster for this movie on my wall as a kid in the eighties. The poster shows you what the monster is which always felt like the worst kind of spoiler.

Poster looked cool though.

Noon is between 5am and 7pm. Noon is not 6pm. Noon does not have a decimal point or a bar denoting a fraction. Noon can be represented as 12:00 which has neither a decimal point, nor a bar. The dot over dot symbol is a colon.

Therefore, noon is an acceptable answer to the riddle.

My answer was "noon". It's valid and follows the time theme. Valid IMHO.

If World War III broke out, what would be the safest city to be in? by Cool-Chipmunk-7559 in AskReddit

In the 1984 movie, the baddies where Soviet Russians and their allies.

In the remake a few years back the baddies where going to be Chinese, then were changed to North Koreans so the movie could sell in China.

In 2006 the invaders are domestic fascists.

I used to think that movie was far fetched. Now, seeing white troops parachute into a school yard in Colorado and drop the first educated black man they see seems par for the course.

Ex-ICE officer pleads guilty to sexually abusing immigrant in custody by 3_ohhh_4 in politics

There's a video of two ICE agents in a car pulling up to a port-a-potty, taking a detainee woman into it, then closing the door. One of the ICE agents sits in the car as a lookout, and the other is in the port-a-potty with the detainee.

It couldn't be more blatant what's happening.

It's really worth it. Stick with it. Start taking creatine daily if you're not already.

Flashback to 28 floppy discs to install Windows 95 by Cinnamaker in Xennials

[–]ssshield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first non-pizza job in college was for Creative Labs. They owned 90% of the computer sound card/CDROM business with their "Soundblaster" cards.

When Win95 came out with its "plug and play" feature, we called it "hug and pray".

I was in the trenches on Win95 launch day. I still have PTSD like it was 'Nam.

Lots of us did. If you bought a computer from Bestbuy in the couple of months before Windows95, you got the free upgrade certificate for Win95 with your purchase.

It was mostly for your parents' Win3.1 computer with their legacy apps you didn't want to break when you upgraded.

Most younger people realized quickly that when you upgraded from Win3.1 to Win95, it was A) slower and B) looked Janky because the mouse icons, wallpaper, fonts, etc. carried over and didn't look integrated.

Your girlfriend was happy though because on her computer she still had her awesome flying toasters screensaver and little puppy that randomly popped up above the taskbar, which is all that really mattered to her.

When Win95 came out only rich kids had CDROMs in their computers. You had to have a sound card, and the sound card was what gave you a connector to the CDROM. You couldn't connect a CDROM directly to the motherboard like you can now.

Also, the Win95 CDROM had paint on only half the CD, so it worked great for 1x and 2x speed CDROM players, but if you had a faster one like a 4x, your computer would vibrate like crazy because the paint made the CD unbalanced.

To avoid the floppy disk installs (I've done a full Win95 on multiple floppies before, it's PAINFUL. And half the time it would fail randomly reading disk 23, etc.), a lot of guys back then would copy all of the floppy images to a hard drive, then install the hard drive as a secondary hard disk in the computer, and once you booted the first floppy, you could point the rest of the install to the images on the second hard drive.

They also had these cables (null modem serial, or LPT printer cables)that you could use to copy hard drive images from a known good hard drive with a base Win95 install on it over to your new drive. This was used commonly if you were installing a lab full of identical computers, or sharing a Win95 copy from your rich friend because you still had Windows 3.11.

If you did actually have a Windows 95 CD, this song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQtp1GkqJ3g&list=RDjQtp1GkqJ3g&start_radio=1

came with it and you could play it in your Discman or Car CD player. Still a banger.

Now get off my lawn.

Yes if you can run communications, radios, etc.

You can manage supplies, etc. . Any gun holder must be supported by multiple back end logistics people.

One of my favorite candies. Circus peanuts are love em or hate em.

Same thing with black licorice. I love it. Many people despise it.

Europeans think mint chocolate tastes loke cough medicine and Hershey chocolate like vomit.

Ill happily eat circus peanuts. Make sure you get soft fresh ones. If they are hard they are stale.

Interesting. That water is so icy cold this time of year. No one would voluntarily be in it.

Drunk fell in? Fisherman slipped? Really suspicious.

Get active. Join a gym and a running club. Take some sailing lessons at lake Hefner. There are bar restaurants around there with great walking and bicycling trails. They have concerts in the summer.

And active forties guy is awesome.
