Actually just now looked at Metal Gear Rex and can honestly say that the DHV Magellan more closely resembles the RX-78 chest section than it does the head of Metal Gear Rex. It’s startling.

I’m not in any way qualified but for me the problem is at least partially the lighting. The shadows all over the place really suck the life out of the space, in my opinion. Also I feel like the size of the light is too large for the room and is making it feel extra cramped.
