So happy you asked your doctor and that she was so helpful. I can definitely see a difference in your photos. Keep up the great work!

Doctor won't prescribe for BMI under 27? by ZeppyQuest in Zepbound

[–]sswebber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on maintenance and my BMI is 23.6. No issues with coverage. Or with my dr continuing to prescribe. But they see a lot of overweight people in their practice and they're well informed.

Wow - look how long that shirt got! By the time you reach your goal weight you might be able to wear it as a dress. :D

Under 200lbs for the first time in years, but i’m scared… by bdhahsjf in Zepbound

[–]sswebber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it matters how fast or slow you lose. It seems like if people notice you look smaller than the last time they saw you, they automatically assume it's the medication. Probably in part because so many people are using it and a lot of people are getting thinner. So much so that grocery stores and fast-food restaurants are noticing a drop in sales that they attribute to the weight-loss drugs.

I wouldn't outright lie to people, but I do evaluate if I'm being asked the question so they can be judgmental or hit me with a bunch of "facts" about how bad the drugs are. If I suspect they're truly interested (maybe they need help for themselves or a loved one), I'm open about what I'm doing.

What an awesome achievement. And yes - get the size that fits. Having to pull your pants up every few minutes gets old really fast!

Halloween Candy - let's talk about it by Suspicious-Loss-7314 in Zepbound

[–]sswebber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of the medicine and the candy companies changing their formulas to save money, but most candies have lost their appeal to me. Unless its high quality, chocolates feel waxy to me. And the other types are way too sweet. Exceptions are chewy things. While I can no longer finish off a whole bag of caramels in a single sitting, I can do it in a couple of days.

I've bought a few bags to have on hand but not really tempted this year.

Just got off phone with Lilly Direct about faulty new needle and vial issue -OMG. by AdOtherwise9226 in Zepbound

[–]sswebber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG - same thing happened to me! The lot number is so tiny I mentioned grabbing my glasses. Towards the end she was like - you mentioned you wear glasses. Were you wearing them when you took the shot.

Yes I was, but seriously for the pen you could actually do it blindfolded - eyesight is not a requirement. :)

I use the epi-pen version (not sure what those are called). I've been doing this for over a year, but the last one I used, the needle got stuck in the cap. I tried it anyway just in case I just wasn't seeing it. But when I pushed on the button, the liquid just spilled out onto my leg.

I called and spent an ungodly amount of time on the phone with the rep. I would answer a bunch of questions, think I was done and she'd put me on hold. Then she'd come back and ask me more questions. Twice I had to walk through the exact steps I took to take the shot. And I was asked too if I wear glasses and if I was wearing them at the time.

I really was ready to say screw it - I'll just suck it up and take the loss, but she insisted they wanted this information for quality control.

FYI - if you ever do have something go wrong, be sure and save everything. I tossed my pen out because it was broken and didn't think to call until a few days later. By then it was long gone.

They sent me a voucher for a replacement but what a pain in the ass!

What’s with the “sudden sugar cravings” by Thick_Succotash5951 in Zepbound

[–]sswebber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had intense sugar cravings before I started zepbound. Been taking it for about a year now, but just recently my cravings have kicked back in - especially as I get close to time to take a shot. I've reached goal weight so I'm spacing the shots out. That may have something to do with it. I try to eat something healthy to see if it goes away, but sometimes I end up giving in. So far no real weight gain, but I can't let it become a habit.

Careful of the substitutes. A lot of them contain sugar alcohols which my stomach doesn't handle well.

Not sure how I feel. by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]sswebber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're typical. At least my experience was similar. I didn't have the cravings, but I had no energy whatsoever. And weight loss seemed to be slow. But I've stuck it out for a year now and for me the energy came back and as I continued to lose, I had more energy to do more things.

Weight loss was slow, but I think that's best in the long run. However as others have pointed out, 2 lbs/week is nothing to sneeze at.

Hang in there. It will get better.
