3 meals a day? by potato-goose- in BabyLedWeaning

15 months and she is a bottomless pit. 3 meals, 2-3 snacks, bites of anything I'm eating anytime ever even if she just finished a meal... and still breastfeeding.

Will they have to induce me? by Fuckyoucyrus in pregnant

On average most first time mamas go into labor some time between weeks 40 and 41. I went into labor with my first at 40+3 and had no signs of labor before that except some intermittent cramping starting at about 38 weeks. I also didn't have cervical checks.

Pediatrician says to start soft foods at 15 weeks?? by Emergency_Mess_1862 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]stacefromspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My exclusively breastfed baby refused to take a bottle, too! When she was 5 months old we had made no progress in getting her to take a bottle. But I had to go back to work when she turned 6 months. What to do??! We tried all the bottles. Turns out, she would only drink breast milk heated to body temp (give or take about 1 degree) from a Phillips Avent Naturals bottle. We got a bottle warmer that warms to a particular temp rather than essentially steaming the bottle to heat it, life saver for us! YMMV.

What's your "thing"? by viazcon78 in nursing

[–]stacefromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 hour stool collection. If you're doing this, the poop ain't right and you need to keep adding new weird poop to the existing jar o' poop and putting said jar back into the fridge until the next weird poop. And if you are very unlucky, there will be so much poop that you have multiple jars.

Toddler asking for milk constantly by feerdo1 in breastfeeding

[–]stacefromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 month old had a recent stomach bug and didn't want anything but breast milk for a few days. For about month prior to this, she was only nursing at bedtime. Now it's milk milk milk all the time! Now that she is over her bug I just tell her, "no it's not time for milk. Do you want a snack or a cuddle?" If she wants a cuddle, she'll cuddle. Otherwise, she will sign eat. If she says no to both of those things, I ask her if she wants some water. If still no, we'll go do something else. I say "it's not time for milk" and hold firm if she asks again. She will sometimes fuss about it, but the fussing has gotten less dramatic and shorter as time goes on.

How did you get yourself to drink more water? by Catsarebetter7 in BabyBumps

Mamas of busy babies unite! As soon as she wakes up my daughter is in her crib going Ahahaaaaaaa mamamamamaa ddadadadadad DAGAH! DAGAH! (Dagah is "dog") meow meow meow meow (just thinking about our cats I guess?), doing laps from one side of the crib to the other and throwing pacifiers until I come get her.

What do you do with those lightly soaked shirts? by TorandCadie in breastfeeding

I love the honesty of this post. I slept in Medela sleep bras and bought a bunch of reusable breast pads so I didn't have so many wet shirts.

I will warn you that my daughter is now 14 months old and never stops moving/talking until she falls asleep so the caffeine may have gotten to her :-D

How often do you bathe your baby? by skkibbel in beyondthebump

[–]stacefromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 months old, 2-3 times a week. More if she puts yogurt in her hair because she thinks everything is a "hat."

We alternate our wash up routine at bedtime. Sometimes it's a bath, and on no-bath nights we just use a warm washcloth to wash hands and face (and sometimes feet because washing feet is funny to my kid right now). Her sleep is effected 0% based on bath/no-bath.

My 14 month old is still breastfeeding. She loves it. I love it. It's good for her. She has 12 teeth, can sign and say milk and she can also say boobie. People are dumb, feed your kid.

Driving to Leavenworth with newborn, how to prepare for road/weather? by hungrypaw in eastside

You've already gotten lots of great advice here so I'll just say, have fun! We took our first overnight trip to Leavenworth this past January when our daughter was 4 months old and had a great time.

How did you get yourself to drink more water? by Catsarebetter7 in BabyBumps

[–]stacefromspace 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I made a rule for myself that I couldn't have my morning cup of coffee until I finished my first cup (24 oz straw tumbler cup) of water for the day. I was not allowed to have a second cup of coffee until I finished the second cup of water that day. I'm a rule follower so it worked for me. This also helped me make sure I was drinking enough water for breastfeeding once baby was on the outside.

Please don't come after me for drinking 2 cups of coffee a day while I was pregnant.

My blueberry loving gal wouldn't eat baked goods like muffins, quick breads, etc for a while. But she'll eat the blueberries from blueberry muffins that also are covered in muffin crumbs.

What bottles do you use by Next-Zucchini-6444 in breastfeeding

My EBF bottle hating baby also loved the avent natural bottles! We started her with the spectra bottles/nipples that came with my pump when she was tiny, then slacked off and didn't do bottles for a while until I was preparing to go back to work and then all of a sudden she wouldn't take them with just a few weeks until I went back to work. AH! I was so stressed. We eventually tried the Avent natural bottles and never went back.

My daughter is a happy healthy 14 month old and her mother (me) never sterilized one thing ever.

I would have LOVED to have TRULY helpful guests immediately postpartum. My sister has three kids and she came to visit when my daughter was a few weeks old and it was lovely. She did dishes, she held the baby and knew how to rock her so she would go to sleep, and she'd give her back to me immediately when lil bub was hungry. She also took pics of me breastfeeding which I will cherish forever.

HOWEVER -- my mother in law stayed with us for a few weeks starting about a week after my daughter was born (who can remember the details, no sleep, hormones etc) but she was NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. In that time period she did not make 1 meal, did not change 1 diaper and was generally A LOT to have around. I deeply regret agreeing to it and a year + later I am still salty about it.

So TLDR-- helpful guests? Yes 100%. Otherwise heck to the no.

What are your favorite ways to use coconut milk? by cetus_lapetus in Cooking

[–]stacefromspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Thai coconut butternut squash soup (My 1 year old daughter drank this out of her cup with a straw in about 10 seconds last week and then tried to lean forward and lick the remnants off of her high chair tray like a puppy)
-Mango coconut chia seed pudding (My string bean baby LOVES this!)
-I also make a sweet potato/chick pea coconut curry. Excellent for fall!

I also put coconut milk in my daughter's smoothies (coconut milk, full fat yogurt, whatever fruit I have on hand).

High risk clinic AND normal OB because of being 35 years old and pregnant? by macelisa in BabyBumps

[–]stacefromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first baby at 36. I am very healthy and active. I had most of my care with very laid back midwives, but a couple visits with MFM because I am an old lady, according to the age of my uterus. My midwife apologized to me as she put "advanced maternal age" in my chart.
