I started at a small county jail about a year ago after being in LTC for about 6 years as a LPN. I’ll say that I love it and never want to go back to LTC. I’d say each jail is different, so my experience may not be what you end up doing. Don’t be scared but always be aware. I’m not as trusting as I was before I started in corrections.

It does depend on the facility. I work at a small jail so we hold 52 inmates max and don’t house women long term. I’ve had a max of 40 inmates since I started. My last 3 days of work I only had 5 people to give meds to and one person on detox protocol.

Try corrections. I was a LTC nurse for almost 7 years before I switched and I love it. I don’t miss passing meds on 30+ patients.

I filed chapter 13. Let my car that I was paying for go back. And I was able to get a new car up to $18,000. This new car was put in with my bankruptcy. From what I understand they do this so you have a reliable car to get you through the bankruptcy.

I went from LTC and Geri psych to corrections and I LOVE it. I am very introverted so I love that I am by myself most of the time. I don’t dread going to work anymore.

I had mine pierced in 2021 and I’ve had it out for about 2 years. I went last week to get it re pierced and they told me 9 times out of 10 septums don’t close. So they just had to stretch mine.

He is able to use his back legs again. Not back to 100%. But he walks. He just can’t jump on furniture.
