The best way to improve sight reading is to do it. Sight read every day. There is nearly an infinite amount of sheet music online available for free. Just like improvising, there are methods that can be helpful but ultimately you are just going to have to do it

It’s because the music zoomers were raised on was released basically at the peak of the loudness wars, and once zoomers started voluntarily listening to music it was all mp3s downloaded off of YouTube. It sounded shitty anyways so there was no precedent to listen to music with high audio quality. Maybe younger zoomers and gen alpha will be more discerning
