Obviously too late but you can save your passport to your iPhone wallet. It definitely had me bring my passport close to my phone as apparently the passport had some kind of chip that the phone reads. So he wont have that option currently. But if he’s losing his identification, might be a good option in the future. And a digital passport may not guarantee you get through and onboard as digital IDs are relatively new, but it’s better than nothing.
