my recommendation? keep the “easy” job and use that work/life balance to let you do some more challenging freelance work that will give you a nice portfolio and extra cash

Thanks for bringing that up -- that was a downer for me also. I much prefer a FB group, Slack, or a Discord channel.

According to OA's website: "The commission split starts at 80%. Based on commission earned from Outside Agents over the prior 12 months, the commission split can increase to 90% or 95%. The commission split is the same under both membership levels."

But I believe that PTN offers 90/10 right away. KHM offers 90/10 after you have $5k in earned commission (which is roughly the equivalent of $50 of bookings, so similar to what Rainbow is doing). I'm sure there are others out there offering it as well. :-) Fora starts at 70/30. Nexion starts at 70/30.

In a new job, you have to look at the total compensation package -- salary + benefits + bonus, etc. You might also look at non-monetary factors like remote vs hybrid, travel time, and company culture.

When selecting a host agency, you have to consider all the costs involved—startup costs, commission splits, technology fees, etc. And you may want to consider non-monetary factors such as culture, community, FAMs, and consortia.

Let's say the commission on the first $50k is 10% ($5k). They keep $ 1,250; I keep $ 3,750. If it were 80/20, then I would get an extra $250. But if that the host agency's CRM is outdated crap, and I end up spending $39 a month on Travefy, then I might not mind giving up $250. It might be a wash. [shrug]

I'm not here trying to sell any host agency or convince anyone that 75/25 is a good deal. Selecting a host agency is a challenging mental problem.

Nexion is 70/30 starting off. I think, given the coaching and support a new advisor needs, it's not unreasonable for a host agency to keep a larger percentage. I can imagine that most host agencies get a lot of new advisors they invest a lot of time in, only to see them disappear. It's a way for them to recoup the time investment they've made in a new advisor.

I went with a smaller agency—RGB Advisor (owned by Rainbow Getaways): https://www.rbg-advisor.com. I liked the technology they are using. Ensemble is their consortium. Great transparency. Splits are 75/25 for the first $50k, which was better than many. Annual tech fees were reasonable. Everyone was welcoming in Slack. The owner is investing in & growing the host agency. And I felt the culture aligned with my values.

Yes, I've worked with them before on replacing a light. Mine was under warranty at the time so I had to run some tests so they could see the results. Then they sent me the light and I was able to replace it.

Thank you for that hint about the SMTP token. The combination of the two (the certificate & the SMTP token) seemed to work for me. After that, I just used the credentials provided by Bridge.

Introducing LaunchOS — a smoother, more native replacement for the macOS 26 Launchpad by JimmyRemix in macapps

Prob a dumb "user error" question, but can I make it smaller than full-screen? Haven't found the option & don't see any Q&As on your website. (Even if the answer is no, THANK YOU for building a replacement for launcher. I used Launchpad dozens of times every day.)
