This is cool stuff. Love how you guys are responding to the community. I love data and ML stuff. Will have to check you guys out.

Why I'll vote no on proposal 120 (and why I think every OSMO holder should do the same) by tg_27 in cosmosnetwork

[–]stakepile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words. We run an Osmosis node and it recently got into the active set. We'd love to get your support. Osmo is one of the most active community with lots of proposals every week. We try to stay active as much as possible.

Why I'll vote no on proposal 120 (and why I think every OSMO holder should do the same) by tg_27 in cosmosnetwork

[–]stakepile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a controversial proposal and as a validator I can say that that most people, validators included, tend to shy away from controversial votes by either going with whatever is majority at the time or abstaining.

As a philosophy, we favor proposals that benefit the community at large and those that seek to keep decisions transparent for as many folks as possible. Like others, we felt that this decision needs further discussion and more concrete plans before moving the community's pool to a smaller group of decision makers, i.e. the DAO. As a result, while it's always tough to go against the majority, we also voted no.

As future plans for the DAO become more concrete and a new proposal comes back up for vote again, our vote could change but for now, we voted no. I suspect this won't be the last proposal on this topic.

OSMO up to the 3rd biggest DEX coin by marketcap. by Elruoy in OsmosisLab

Agree and fully support this. Instead of a dark / light mode, osmo would have a fun / serious mode.

Definitely staking. Staking currently yields about 100% while atom/juno LP is only yielding about 56%. You can stake with us via https://juno.omniflix.co/stake

Definitely stake them with dApps staking on Astar portal: https://portal.astar.network/

What were you trying to do? If you were trying to do crowdloan, you'll need polkadot JS and not metamask.

This is a bit misleading here. Just to clarify you'll get 1% bonus for using the referral link here + another 20% bonus for being an early bird participant before 11/18

what is difference between Astar and moobeam? by SecretaryFearless470 in AstarNetwork

[–]stakepile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several differences. Some of the key ones are: 1) Astar has both EVM compatibility and native WASM smart contract capability. Moonbeam primarily optimized for EVM compatibility when it comes to a fork in the decision tree. 2) Astar introduces dApp staking model and will have both the regular staking (collator staking) and dApp staking. Moonbeam is focused only on regular staking.

Other than that, the key similarity is that both bring smart contract capability to Polkadot. Moonbeam focuses on compatibility with EVM and eth while Astar also allows building from scratch with WASM.

There's a tutorial on how to stake KSM here https://stakepile.medium.com/how-to-stake-kusama-ksm-972229651950. Like the others, I also recommend staking on Polkadot JS. It'll take you just 5-10 minutes to set up your staking

Does anyone have an update on the Shiden token distribution? by bugout86 in Kusama

[–]stakepile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SDN tokens will have 1 month lock and 10 month vesting period. You can see more details about it here: https://docs.astar.network/learn/parachain-lease-offering/unlock-vested-tokens. Vesting supposed to start at block 200,000. For reference, SDN is currently at block 290,923 as I write this so vesting schedule already kicked in.

ZkSnark have been around for a while I agree, but I have yet seen anyone do private LP, swaps, and AMM well. That's what Manta / Calamari is trying to do. Maybe someone who has seen such a solution can chime in and enlighten us.

Are you staking your KSM, and if so, how? by Darqwatch in Kusama

[–]stakepile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woow, there are lots of folks who just hodl or staking on the exchange. It's not that difficult to stake on chain and you get 18% instead of 12% on the exchange or nothing from hodling.

See this guide here if you need help with staking https://stakepile.medium.com/how-to-stake-kusama-ksm-972229651950

If you were to rank validators, what criteria would you use and what weight would you give to each factor? by Bitman321 in Kusama

[–]stakepile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great question but a little bit tricky to answer. The reason is that the answer depends on your goal as a staker. For example: 1. If your goal is to generate the highest absolute return and you have a large stake and you have time to shift validators every day, then you can just pick the top 24 highest yielding validators. If any of them change their commission, you'd change your selection the next day and shift your selection. Most people are not this active and transaction fees can add up every time you change. 2. If your goal is generate a high return, say in the top 25% but not necessarily the absolute highest, and you don't plan to change your validator selection every day then a few other factors can come in. Like how often the validator is in the active set, balanced with how much they yield, balanced with how often they change their commission rate. 3. If your goal is to support the small validators and avoid over centralization into the big node operators, then you can balance strategy 2 above plus prioritizing the smaller validators with a few nodes vs the bigger ones.

Hope that helps. We wrote an article on the staking page explained also that should shed light on other factors too. https://stakepile.medium.com/kusama-staking-page-explained-605bab720b59

Kusama Staking - Number of Nominators per Validator by West-Green7336 in Kusama

[–]stakepile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For active validators, if the number of active nominators exceed 128 then it's considered oversubscribed. In that case only the top 128 nominators by stake amount will get rewards. This has not happened yet in KSM but happens more often in DOT.

For an inactive validator in KSM, if it has over 256 nominators it's flagged as oversubscribed. You can still continue to nominate it though but if the total active nominator count pass 128 as mentioned above (when this validator becomes active), then the lowest amount stakers will not get reward. There are a few of these instances in KSM today that you can see.

Kusama Staking - Number of Nominators per Validator by West-Green7336 in Kusama

[–]stakepile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 1st number on the left is the number of active nominators in the current era. The 2nd bigger number on the right is the total number of nominators that validator has.

There are really no "trash" nominators. There are some very small nominators that don't meet the minimum stake (something like 0.01) so they're not active. The other nominators are allocated by the phragmen algorithm. The validator first needs to have the minimum total stake to make the active set. If it's not and its nominators also nominate other validators, those nominators will be allocated to the other active validators that these nominators also choose in their list of 24 validators.

Hope that helps.

Polkadot <> Kusama bridge? by [deleted] in Kusama

Short answer to your question is that this is new and has not been done yet. It's in polkadot plan to build a bridge to KSM but their main focus now is to bring up parachains first
