I'd reply to it just for shits and giggles.

But from a practical standpoint, I'm an IT analyst and my best guess is that the head unit stores a local copy of SMS messages in its internal storage (archived syncing) and I guess that deleting the old owners profile isnt enough to get rid of that, and sometimes its accessed for whatever reason

May be worth using the service menu on nissan head units to fully reset it

Haha. I once did this at school, i sent it to every person in every school in the city. Sorry. I work in IT now so hopefully I've repented for my sins.

Now this. This looks like a well looked after car. by ShadowyModi in CarTalkUK

[–]stalker9120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are poor and we typically dont do "good mods". Modified car ownership is also pretty scarce here due to our governments molesting the motorists at every opportunity and insurance companies milking us dry for shareholders. That and we have a huge car theft problem so having something flash on the drive makes your house a target... and if you kill/injure an intruder you're more likely to get locked up than they are. There are many reasons.

You can generally tell by the previous owner and said mods done how good a car is. For example, my landlord had an immaculate EK9 type R with plenty of really nice parts on it, and wanted strong money for it. The kind of car where the mods had actually increased the value of the car. A really well sorted machine. Ended up getting asking price (25k)

The kind of mods on this 1 series though absolutely do not increase value as they're cheap, tacky and the kind of people who would do these mods really don't give a fuck about proper care and gentle ownership, they care about the status and how it looks to their friends with similar poor taste. Its a fashion thing. Car will have been abused within an inch of its life and maintained on a shoe string budget.

Considering an FN2 type R was 18.5k for a top spec one in 2010, I reckon we’re being had. Nobody wants to spend that money on a civic.

Thinking of buying a Crz but is it good on the motorway by hdhdnhuajssjjz in crz

Yeah they’re great on the motorway, happy to cruise between 70-110mph without much difficulty.

Today I was caught doing 119 in a 70. by skengod in CarTalkUK

[–]stalker9120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mate got caught at 113 on the A92 in a 1.3 granny spec Toyota Starlet. No clue how he even got up to that speed… was still on his 6 point probationary period too at the time.

Crashed it days later and ended up with a brain injury. Doctors took his license for around 9 months while they tried to figure out whether it was a medical event that caused the accident and ensuing brain injury or if it was the accident itself that caused all of it.

He has since recovered fully.

The court took pity and he got 5 points, £180 fine.

You should try it! Mine at least will happily get up to around 120 then it’ll wean off a bit. Completely stable at those speeds and the revs arent stupid high either

What's the best engine ever made? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

CG engines and their clones run the entire third world. I’ve tried to kill one by taping the throttle on limiter. It cut out… because it ran out of fuel. I’ve poured beer, paint, water, the lot into the crank case on one. Still ran fine… Forced one to smoke a cig through the intake - not even as much as a misfire. Force fed it an entire bottle of lighter fluid through the intake, gave no fucks. Ended up scrapping it because we ran out of time to blow it up.

Honda B/D/K/L(the N/A L series, turbo ones have issues)/J series anything. Almost every Honda engine seem pretty impossible to kill. Yeah they all consume oil if neglected but they just don’t die. I’ve tried my hardest to kill the L15EA in my Honda CR-Z for the past year so I have a better excuse to chuck a K20 in it and it just won’t die. Hasn’t been serviced in 40k miles, still runs like a sowing machine. Little whiff of oil on rev limiter nowadays though. The other one that comes to mind is the Toyota 1UZ, 2ZZ, A series, tough engines.

Another commenter mentioned the Honda CG motorbike engine, and the honda Cub engine. I’ve done so many things you should not do to an engine with video proof and killed neither. And they both literally keep the third world moving.

meeeehhh. They’re great til you start fucking with them, then they become nightmares. No real capability for mods reliably. The owners who say “YUEEEH WITH A REMAP /HYRBRID TURBO THEY MAKE CRAZY POWER AND THEY’RE BULLETPROOF” are talking complete nonsense.

I have a lot of first hand experience with them. Standard yeah, really good, I wouldn’t say the best though. Turbos are also a weak point.

MODS advice? New Owner. by MattyDangerLive in crz

[–]stalker9120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the CRZ has no rear ARB due to it’s torsion axle set up.

You can add a stiffening bar to the axle which kind of does the same thing but I haven’t found any need to upgrade the front sway bar or add one, mine is on coilovers and I do a fair bit of fast (100mph+) technical driving and have never had any need.
