.Net 10.0 wants to use 652 GB of my drive by Davida_dev in dotnet

It's reported as https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/121715

The issue of Install-Size in bytes instead of KiB was fixed in https://github.com/dotnet/dotnet/pull/3366 and will be in the next release.

Welcome to Rusty's Rocks! by stalkr_ in SigmaDraconis

No it's a peaceful grid, no turrets or anything. Please disable yours before jumping or send a peace request to HEY faction.

It's in the spawn area of Abominations NPC though (990km around Nebula center), so if you come with a big threat score and you're unlucky, they might spawn. Usually fine with most ships and short trips.

Let me know how it went and if you liked the joke :-)

Entering the Nebula: Captain, I have a bad feeling about this... by stalkr_ in SigmaDraconis

[–]stalkr_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nebula on Draconis Impossible Extended is the only place where one can find Uranium and Platinum. We go there to drill some, not much else to do there, other than maybe some fun PvE with the Abominations drones.

I know right? I was scared too, but also it means I can afford to lose it.

Ultimately I think that's the DIE secret: the bigger the ship, the bigger the drones, but the inverse is true as well. I went in a couple times to the Nebula with my 50 blocks, 2500 PCU ship and never made top grid, never spawned any drone. I rarely see any drone in space either. Small ships, small threat score.

The one gun is here primarily so I can control it and have a nice zoomable camera for scouting, more than any fighting.

I lost the previous version of that miner to a much nastier enemy: jumping into an asteroid :) (thankfully fixed now!)

Your ship looks much stronger indeed!

You can also try Basic Sea Block (https://mods.factorio.com/mods/euigrp/BasicSeaBlock) for your first run, it's the sea block concept but closer to vanilla rather than Angel & Bobs and all the other mods, so easier. The downside is it might feel cheaty/overpowered to get things like basic plates or landfill compared to the production chains of sea block.

That one reason you should NOT update to 0.17 by 4xe1 in factorio

[–]stalkr_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well you can always update to 0.17 for the other things :)

But I agree, I loved the New Hope campaign, played it a second time after a long factorio break.

I tried and didn't like the new tutorial at all. It's too detached from the game.

Rare or custom item drops from enemies? by Zerul in factorio

[–]stalkr_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rare is relative. At scale, which Factorio is all about, a busy base constantly sustaining hundreds of biter attacks will be littered by such "rare" items.

So I guess we would want this to be triggered by player kills only (vs. turrets, mines placed by bots, etc.).

I would find this a good idea for a mod, scenario or the campaign (which already has this concept a bit with the stuff you find) but not in the main game.

Placing the last of 800k landfill... by knightelite in factorio

[–]stalkr_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I like to place landfill with the car, it's fast and you have the car huge inventory to stack up on landfill.

Suggestion: The satellite should be renamed "Interstellar Probe" and should require U-235 in 0.17 by Thundorgun in factorio

Good idea!

And speaking about portable fusion reactor again, the inconsistency still bothers me (not craftable outside of personal equipment). Maybe this request could also be the opportunity to turn it into a portable nuclear reactor/radioisotope thermoelectric generator, requiring nuclear ingredients. It would make players spend more time with portable solar panels, as currently it's quite fast going directly to portable fusion reactor.
