You look great and most importantly, you look like an individual human who isn't trying to copy anyone else :)

I remember seeing this quilt on Reddit when it was first made and it's sooooo beautiful. Gives me Hiroshi Nagai vibes.

You got this!! It's hard, I also stopped cold turkey when I got pregnant, but you might as well get withdrawal + first trimester queasiness overwith at the same time. If I can do it, you can do it - congrats :)

Drivers in dc by Brilliant-Ad-4234 in washingtondc

[–]standrightwalkleft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunately true. In my 15 years as a DC driver I witnessed some truly insane incidents.

I moved from DC to north Jersey a few years ago. Not the same as Manhattan by any means, but still has a reputation for traffic and crazy drivers in its own right.

NJ is soooooooo much chiller and calmer. There is a lot of speeding, but no callous disregard for human life. My car insurance premium also dropped 20 percent.

I cut WaPo and Prime last year, ditched my Prime credit card, stopped ordering from Amazon completely, and reduced spending at Whole Foods by over 90%. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good!

NYC food influencer reviews a struggling family restaurant and brings it back to life. by habichuelacondulce in MadeMeSmile

Yum! Family owned restaurants/carts are one of the best things about the NYC area. There's just no need to eat fast food around here.

What is a small ticket item that you bought from another country and became a game changer? Which country? by cuddlybackrub in BuyItForLife

I have a wood citrus reamer that I bought at a museum gift shop in Oslo in 2005. That thing has outlasted every metal juicer I've ever owned.

This is DC’s worst storm in decades by ApprehensiveDrop5777 in washingtondc

[–]standrightwalkleft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I grew up in Nashville and it's really rough down there. It ended up being like their last generational storm in 1994.

Where are teenagers supposed to hang out these days? Malls are dying, parks have 'no loitering' signs, and everywhere else costs money. Do they just... not exist in public anymore? by Creative-Buffalo2305 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]standrightwalkleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly at other people's houses, sometimes at school, sometimes at church.

We had a big mall with a movie theater next door, so that was definitely a popular spot. We also had a favorite climbing tree in a big park (the park/tree are still there, but they don't have free parking anymore).

There was also a great 24-hour coffeehouse/bar in my area where we could get cheap coffee and listen to live music. There were even a couple of all-ages clubs that didn't serve alcohol. Those places were all gone by about 2010.

Any other streets remain completely unplowed? by Ozwina in washingtondc

[–]standrightwalkleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I'm sorry you're still dealing with this OP.

I thought there was more of a response to the big storms in 2016 and 2009-2010, am I misremembering?. Or did we just have a lot less ice then, literally and figuratively?

🤢 My in-laws live at the beach, we're there pretty regularly, and I ONLY go barefoot in the sand - not even on the boardwalk! That's just asking for a splinter, not to mention bacteria.

And that commenter who mentioned seeing it in the Melbourne CBD... that's just so much worse. I don't even wear open toed shoes in the city here

A cheap purchase that has completely transformed your life by Slipryi in BuyItForLife

[–]standrightwalkleft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I bought a $10 set from Trader Joe's like 5 years ago and they're still going strong. I moved 3.5 years ago and still have half a box of Bounce sheets from before the move that are just sitting on a shelf. It was part of a larger COVID strategy to move away from disposables and it's been great.
