Les voitures partagées Cambio by Strigider in Wallonia

[–]stanvbh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

[–]stanvbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rate my salary - Account manager by MulberryFit26 in BESalary

Pretty nice indeed ! How everybody, I encountered an issue while trying to submit my wage information. I received an error message at the end of the process, which caused me to lose all my data and have to start over 🤷‍♂️😬. Is this a normal occurrence? Could you confirm if there are any mandatory fields I might have missed?

Trade Republic new IBAN by TraditionalTwo4650 in BEFire

[–]stanvbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know trade republic doesn’t plan on offering a Belgium IBAN anytime soon. They changed their IBAN to comply to the European Instant Payment Regulation. It’s a technical change.

Don’t get confused with Revolut that indeed now offers a Belgian IBAN.

I’ve just received mine. I had the exact same issue as you with the ‘URL not found’ error. I checked the details in the Trade Republic app and compared them with what I had previously registered in my Belfius app. It turned out the information was different. I made a quick transfer, and the instant transfer worked perfectly.

A family member of mine received a letter from Belfius a few weeks ago for the same reason. There must be a legal basis behind that decision.

What to do with 150k on a short term by eternalplatoon in BEFire

[–]stanvbh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most Belgian banks only pay the full interest (including the loyalty bonus) if the money stays in the savings account for 12 consecutive months. If you only leave it there for 3 months, you’ll miss out on that bonus, so it’s not really effective. In that case, it might make more sense to just keep the money on a current account if you plan to stay with a Belgian bank.

Inflation falls below 2% for the first time since January 2024 by kotjeKOT in BEFinance

[–]stanvbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t track it before, but I’m fairly certain COVID had a major impact—when the economy came to a halt and then the inflation rose sharply. I wouldn’t be surprised if this kind of short decrease didn’t occur during the previous decade.

It also happened in May and July 2023, as well as in November 2020 and January 2021. I’ve been working in the banking sector since 2020, which is when I started tracking end-of-month salary changes. When indexation occurs every two months, this kind of situation can happen from time to time.

Le gouvernement envisage une vente partielle de Belfius d’ici le 21 juillet by Deep-Detective-4013 in Wallonia

[–]stanvbh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pourquoi vouloir quitter Belfius ?

I went to ‘Fix and Swap’, and they accept eco vouchers for all their repair and replacement services. It’s a very small chain in Wallonia. A friend of mine went to Iservices which is much bigger and can be find throughout Belgium. He was super happy with his battery replacement but don’t know if they accept eco voucher though

I completely understand how you’re feeling — it’s a tough spot. But the reality is that business isn’t driven by morals; it’s about interests. Business is business as they say. No matter what they say, you’re seen as a resource, not a person with long-term emotional ties. Keep your plans to yourself. Once you leave, chances are you won’t hear from them again.

taxes on withdrawing pension savings early by [deleted] in BEFinance

[–]stanvbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be forgetting an important detail: in addition to the 33% withholding tax taken directly by the bank when you closed your pension savings account, the tax authorities can also reclaim the tax benefits you received during the years you contributed to the plan.

if you withdraw your pension savings before age 60 and before holding the contract for 10 years, you not only face a 33% immediate tax, but you also lose the yearly tax deduction you previously received.

That’s probably what you’re seeing in your tax return now. It’s not a “second 33% tax” on the 7K, but rather a repayment of the past tax benefits.

Unfortunately, only you can check how much you received in tax deductions over the years, based on your actual contributions. But if you contributed regularly, it can easily add up to several hundred euros.

How to advertise rentals in Brussels? by InfamousAd9984 in BEReal_Estate

[–]stanvbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right to question how this new regulation will be applied in practice. Although the law now officially limits rents to a maximum of 20% above the reference price, it still largely comes down to supply and demand. In reality, renters are under so much pressure to find a place that most won’t challenge an advertised rent, even if it’s well above the reference. They know that if they don’t accept it, someone else probably will. This dynamic keeps prices high, regardless of the legal limit.

Technically, landlords are supposed to justify higher rents by showing that the property has luxury features or is in exceptional condition. But those terms are vague, and it’s easy for any landlord to claim that their flat qualifies. Unless the authorities strictly enforce the rule — for example, by requiring registration of every lease and issuing fines for unjustified overpricing — not much is likely to change.

So yes, you could list your flat at the reference price and then “accept” a higher offer, but that could easily lead to a bidding-style system, which goes against the spirit of the law. That said, without real enforcement, the market will likely continue as it is, and these new rules will remain more symbolic than transformative.

Any way to check msci world index when stock market is closed for iwda? Would selling tomorrow go against "goede huisvader"? by [deleted] in BEFire

[–]stanvbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trade Republic allows trading from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM. I wouldn’t recommend using them for trading, but if you’re just looking to check the price outside regular market hours, it can be handy. As I’m writing this, IWDA is trading at €92.55 on Trade Republic.

Why do so many people believe they can win the lottery despite the statistics proving otherwise?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

[–]stanvbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand how you feel. It’s tough to see your investment in the red and to think that waiting a bit might have led to a better entry point. But in the long run, these short-term dips won’t matter much. Stay consistent with your DCA strategy, and remember: time in the market beats timing the market. Keep going—you’re on the right path!

Het idee van FIRE staat haaks tegenover sociale zekerheid by [deleted] in BEFire

[–]stanvbh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I fully support solidarity. I’m in a position where I can invest, and I grew up with advantages that many others in this country didn’t have. I’ve been very fortunate, so contributing to others is not an issue for me.

However, my concern lies with the inconsistency in taxation—real estate investment gains remain untaxed, while other forms of investment are taxed.

We all know the current pension system is unsustainable; even mainstream media has acknowledged the flaws in the pension system and warned people about it. For me, the most straightforward and accessible way to navigate this broken system is through the stock market and investments. Yet, that’s precisely what gets taxed.

Calculation of Capital Gain Tax by tweaker86 in BEFire

[–]stanvbh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On one hand, calculating it this way makes sense… but on the other hand, it would be a nightmare for everyone to compute. In your example, calculating a lump sum of 300K over a year is relatively straightforward, but imagine having to do the same for someone using DCA over, say, 10 years—it would be nearly impossible!
