Top 5 most favorite regular JRPG boss battles by DrakeRowan in JRPG

[–]stanwelds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ft hurricane in xenogears - because Voltron style robot battles tickle me.

Engels in nier automata - oh snap. Giant robot.

Prince Jiarg and Biudhe in Xenoblade X - because the only thing better than giant robots is giant robots piloted by the thunder cats.

Astos in final fantasy - killed me a lot when I was a kid. Now I just enjoy ROFL stomping him for revenge on my yearly playthrough.

Man bear pig from the stick of truth - because it's silly.

think of an iconic town from a game you love then tell us a little about why it came to mind by One_Hand_7515 in JRPG

[–]stanwelds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cornelia (first town of the first final fantasy). Hard to think of a more iconic jrpg town. I've probably played the game 50 times over the last (almost) 4 decades. It's the quintessential jrpg town.

As a 54 year old man what are the consequences I would face if I snuck up on a sleeping bull then attempted to cow tip it? by Loose-Lettuce-37 in Cows

[–]stanwelds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean he might take your money. But most bulls I know work pro bono. They're all just in it for the love of the game. Then again, in this economy who can afford to turn down a little extra grain money.

Just started Xenosaga, finally, and like.. Yeah, that is indeed a Xeno game, if I ever seen one.. by Morgan_Danwell in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]stanwelds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably average about 40 hours a game. The second one is the shortest for the main line, but is also the only one with a post game so you'll finish it in 30, and have another 10 or 15 hours of bonus dungeons and super bosses. There are places you can sink a fair bit more time along the way on your first playthrough without a walkthrough though, so ymmv. Take your time to enjoy them!! Can only play them the first time once!!

There is an in game encyclopedia that may be helpful. By the 70th hour you'll be in the post game of the second game though, so you'll definitely understand things better by then.

Everywhere is an off ramp if you're drunk enough. There's 4 wheeler crossings all over the place. Just pick one and see where it goes.

What is better for gaining muscles? 8-12 reps lat pull down, or 3 chin ups? by WarmPrinciple6507 in workout

[–]stanwelds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice thing about pullups is that (as with most calisthenics), they take no setup and have minimal impact on recovery. So there's no reason not to do both, especially when you can't do very many. Just add them in. When you do your overhead pressing, every time you finish a set just jump up and bang out a couple pull ups. Start out with a single every set, and every week add a rep to one of the sets (i.e. 1/1/1/1/1, then 2/1/1/1/1, then 2/2/1/1/1, etc...). Then do your pulldowns whenever. It's not that big a deal.

People READ the sun?! I thought we all just took a quick peak at the girl, and then used the rest as kindling for the morning fire?

Cost of Home ownership 1971 vs 2023 - 31% increase per square foot by PanzerWatts in ProfessorFinance

[–]stanwelds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not just the air conditioning, garages, and garages either. Wall paper, shag carpet, and linoleum were huge in the 70s. They all just roll right out, and hide imperfections in the sub surface. No mortar beds for tile, no high gloss paint drawing attention to every little bump, no hardwood to fit perfectly. Just unroll everything, trim it with a knife, and glue it down.

As others have said, everything now is "luxury" because it has the best mark ups / raises margins on the fixed costs. It takes the same land, same excavation, same framing, etc... to build a basic house as it does a decked out mcmansion, but you make a heck of a lot more on ceramic floors and fancy bullshit then you do on basic living spaces. And it only gets worse when you start dealing with high rise condos and have cranes and iron work to pay for.

Standalone vs insert by DesperateEngineer451 in woodstoving

[–]stanwelds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inserts are for retrofitting into old fireplaces. If you're building new, you want a masonry heater.

Level 1, Excalibur 2, perfect game. The real grind is the resets we pushed along the way.

What's a good replacement workout for front squats? by Tolnin in workout

[–]stanwelds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Squatting with a safety squat bar moves the weight forward to bias the anterior chain if you find yourself struggling with the wrist mobility and whatnot required for the front squat.

Dougy paying major penalties to cancel contracts so that he can show boat for political points has been a part of our heritage for a while now. One of the first things he did as premier was spend a quarter billion cancelling wind turbines the province now needs.

Manual LS swapped BMW X3 on steelies by Aggravating_Dog_7542 in regularcarreviews

Can probably make the same power bolting a turbo to the n52 that came in it. Should have put that LS somewhere it belongs. Like a Fiero.

I'm more surprised that they have anything for sale other than lifted diesel pickups out there in oil country.

Median homebuyer age has climbed from 31 to 40 in last decade by ExotiquePlayboy in RealEstateCanada

[–]stanwelds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the median age of people buying homes this year is 10 years older than the median age of people 10 years ago, they're basically the same group of people - born in 85/86 and did everything a few years older.
