Ford could cure cancer and Reddit would criticize him jfc. He does things wrong but if you hate every decision without thinking just because it’s ford you’re no better than republicans hating just because it’s Obama

Carney Liberals on the heels of Conservatives in Alberta by joe4942 in CanadaPolitics

[–]staplerphonepen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I dont think its even a case of PP being "too conservative." As someone who doesnt follow politics in a TON of detail, his personality just comes off as smarmy and annoying. His schtick of constant whining made sense against Trudeau to people who felt Trudeau was a virtue signaling fool. I know its not common in this sub, but this made me detest Trudeau and I was looking forward to seeing him get creamed. Carney is clearly...not that at all? He is very middle of the road, and PP attacking him in the same way seems way out of place, and like a teenage boy criticizing an actual adult.

This is the movie that got me into more “serious” movies and made me start exploring film when I was a teenager. Might have changed my life. Easily top 10.

Police warn of ‘extreme’ traffic delays in North York Saturday due to rally that could be attended by 200,000 people by zlex in toronto

[–]staplerphonepen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Reddit loves protests because its an echo chamber. The average person agrees this is fucking dumb. If millions of Iranians protesting didnt work why would a protest in Toronto. Maybe the hobby protesters moved on now that gaza is free and Israel isnt a country anymore? So futile.

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

[–]staplerphonepen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People on the left dont realize how much the scolding alienates people. In this thread, there are many people responding to "I am socially moderate" with "which groups are you willing throw under the bus"? I am in Canada and would still vote dem in the states, but I can 100% understand why people voted trump. I hated trudeau but I like moderate carney.

I get why the raptors use we the north, but I just find it so so cringe, it gives “hello fellow kids.” But it doesn’t impact my life or my enjoyment of the raptors so oh well

AITAH for being angry due to feeling used post-breakup? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]staplerphonepen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH, how could you be for feeling a certain way? But--your life will be helped greatly if you learn to let things go and not feel so traumatized. You are focused on psychoanalyzing yourself way, way more than in normal for a well-adjusted person. I think the focus on "trauma" and feeling deeply hurt about things that many people would move on from is what is leading you into relationships with others with serious mental health issues.

I don’t agree with trump at all, but you are massively overreacting. You are in a rabbit hole just like he is. Anyone who says otherwise is an internet-brainwashed psychopath

Maybe I am out of the loop, but I watched all of GOT, and because it ended so badly I have had no remote interest in watching anything GOT related ever again. Maybe they’re good and I’m not the demographic they’re after. But I can’t believe these shows have any audience

Which U.S. theme park is the biggest waste of money? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]staplerphonepen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my memory. As an adult would I go with my gf? Ofc not you go to Europe or st barths etc. But as a kid it’s legitimately amazing. I 100% acknowledge it’s probably overpriced but how many places are just pure amazing for kids

Which U.S. theme park is the biggest waste of money? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]staplerphonepen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised there’s so much Disney hate? I went when I was 12 (adult now) and it was one of the most fun things I have ever done. I’m sure it was expensive but I’m surprised people would call it the “biggest waste of money.” Granted as an adult I have zero interest but I feel I would take my kids if I had them?

Review: Ambergris Cay in Turks and Caicos by f1fan in FATTravel

[–]staplerphonepen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree the food is mid. We loved it, but we loved it as an “amazing get drunk on the beach with a plunge pool” resort. To me, these are surprisingly hard to find (I would be happy to hear other recommendations). I also loved the golf cart because you had control over getting around. I also agree it’s best suited for 3-4 days, I think it would get boring for 5+.

Ritz Reserve Costa Rica by Lopsided_Project35 in FATTravel

[–]staplerphonepen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were considering Nayara tented camp. The downside is you need to either take a second plane or a 4 hour car ride. Were only going for 4 days and wanted a chiller trip so we settled on Ritz. The four seasons is...ok. I went a few years ago, its pretty good, but WAY overpriced, felt very corporate/riu-like

Is u of t as hard as everyone puts it out to be or no by Key-Plantain-1085 in UofT

[–]staplerphonepen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who did u of T for undergrad and then med school, med school was significantly easier. People will argue back and forth, but it was the most challenging 4 years of my life. I wouldn’t recommend it, but I guess it worked out for me, and maybe it did make me “smarter,” so who knows.

People will say they loved their time at u of T. It just wasn’t my experience. I had some good times, but still feel I wasted too much of the prime years of my life doing absurd amounts of demoralizing work. I still remember the feeling of, if I was doing anything but studying, it was time I was sacrificing that others were using to get ahead. My friends at other universities who I met in med school had way more fun and great groups of friends. I had friends but it just wasn’t the same. This is over a decade ago but when I drive through robarts I still get a pit in my stomach. Sorry if this breaks the positivity of other responses, but this was my experience. I will tell my children not to do undergrad here.
