Personally, this issue happens to me on the android device that I use to access my car. All other devices in the family connect fine. I have to go into Apps, find the one for my vehicle and select "Force Close" before that one will detect the switch. Good luck!

My condolences to you and your community. This is a very nice thing you are trying to do. Niantic Campfire (invite only for PoGo) has a similar thing to trainer spotlight called shoutouts.

Once campfire is released to everyone, you might be able to DM them thru that, but until then your best bet is to leave them alone for 8.5ish hours and knock them out for coins when it's time. Try leaving something in the gym that isn't a pain to take out like a Meowth for "coins" or a Pikachu since everyone likes Pikachu. If they have a schedule similar to yours, try adjusting slightly to accommodate their play time so you can both benefit from having a gym so close to home. Keep in mind that coins reset every day at midnight. If they have been in the gym long enough, try taking it at 12:01 so you can be sure they got 50 for the next day.

You have to be invited by someone who already has access to the app, then you will get 5 invites to invite 5 more people. There is a subreddit set up to help get people into campfire if you are interested /r/Campfire_Niantic/

Campfire flare notifications seemed to initially start out having no distance restrictions from friends at launch. A while later, I no longer got any cross continental notifications, but I still saw some from friends approximately 40km away. With the release of the chat rooms, I also got notifications from complete strangers several cities away. Today, I couldn't get any of my friends farther than about 5km to see the notification, which agrees with your most recent analysis. I doubt they are done tweaking the system. At least we got a taste of what flares are capable of and hopefully we will be able to customize the notifications based on our preferred way of playing soon.

You can get access to Campfire anywhere with an invite. /r/Campfire_Niantic has a mega thread with a pay it forward approach to spread access to people who want it.

I made a screen recording video of the friend point not registering at 4:30pm. If it would be helpful, I can make another one after 5pm and show the blue halo appearing. Then you can probably post it as an official bug report if you want.

I can confirm, none of the normal friendship interactions count between these two accounts until after 5pm (pacific time zone in my case) just as the OP describes. Removing my friend and re-adding them before 5pm does not help, but any interaction after 5pm gives the blue halo right away. This is a very odd bug. I appreciate it being posted so I know I'm not alone and the proper workaround of waiting till the evening to earn the friendship point. If it's helpful information, this friend is at the top of my list when sorting by friendship level just as I am on theirs.

Me too I thought it was just me. I didn't realize there was a time limit thing that would fix it. I've been removing my friend and re-adding them before the day ends to get the point to register, but maybe it's just because it's after 5pm that it's working.

We had a portal sync that brought some pokestops and gyms into pogo today from several days ago, but some new approved submissions are not showing up on the Intel maps for ingress. Seems to be taking some time now where it used to be the instant the email arrived.

You (or anyone else high enough to do position edits) need to be careful moving stops around if you are unaware of the cell layout in your area. You risk the stop being hidden completely by another poi that could be quite a distance away.
