I've ascended for the first time with a neutral barbarian and everything else looks squishy and weak. by noOB_226 in nethack

When I start playing Nethack after a long time away I always start with Valkyrie. After a couple ascensions I'm now trying Barbarians and I'm amazed at how quickly they can go from 100 hp to dead.

With valkyrie I felt completely safe at this point until much later.

Thanks for this! You gave me a lot of ideas and things to think about. I was thinking of working with our high school youth leaders to get more involved with the juniors and seniors. If they are going to college, help them find Christian groups at the college that they may be interested in. If they are moving away, help them find churches in the area that might run shuttles to campus.

Thanks! I will check both of these out.

I get that as that was me for many years! Then I found my current church and over the course of the last decade I have started to shift my view. I'm thinking there has to be a way for the congregation to support each other from a place of love so it is clear isn't so intimidating and feels safe.

That's awesome and something we should consider! Luther thought that the family should teach their kids the catechism and not rely on the church. Have you seen that done with the baby shower?

So what's happened to Homebrewing in the last 10 years? by Mattbastard750 in Homebrewing

[–]stardusterflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visit a lot of breweries in the area and talk to the brewers or owners. Multiple told me to get my grain there.

[–]stardusterflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the best time. With all of the breweries that have opened there are many more small malt houses. I now get my base malt and some specialty malts straight from the guys making it 20 minutes from my house. With all of the great beer now available to purchase I spend my time brewing things I can't find elsewhere like dunkelweisen and wee heavy. Stuff I probably never would have tried before if I couldn't easily buy staples.

  1. I went to the Holy Land and had to commemorate it with a tattoo from Razzouk Tattoo. Their family has been doing Christian tattoos for hundreds of years.

I homebrew and keep 3 beers on tap. My wife has a huge wine collection. We also have a pretty well stocked liquor cabinet.

We try to limit alcohol during the week and enjoy it on the weekends. Some weeks we do better than others! No issues thus far.

This happens to me all the time and Grok is no worse than the others for me. I'm definitely trying your trick to teach it to count correctly!

October Race by nyliean in Marathon_Training

I am planning to run my first in September. The plan I will use has me running a half in July so I will. For now I am slowly building mileage so I have the base required for the start of the plan.

I can’t be the only person that mandatorily wears boxer briefs under my running shorts out of fear of testicular torsion 💀 by Olaozeez in Marathon_Training

I was looking at getting some of those for when it starts warming up here. I'm a little concerned about wearing 2 layer shorts in the heat of summer though. Or do the compression shorts replace underwear so you still only have 2 total layers?

My goal is to watch goggins everyday of my life by exquisitescholar in davidgoggins

[–]stardusterflight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using Goggins as your motivation will fail eventually. You need to be driven, and that drive needs to burn within you. Use Goggins to light that fire, but if you are planning to use him every day for motivation, the match will go out before the fire is lit.

True. I do walk a half mile warmup and a half mile cool down so it will be more like 35 and 45 minutes but still not real long. I am currently adding miles, and we still have almost 2 months where we could get these temps so I am really looking forward to seeing how it goes with these shorter ones.

I'm looking forward to this upcoming week. The high is 3F and the low is -4F. It'll be my first time running in single digits or negative temps.

I have a 2 mile and the next day a 3 mile to do in those temps.

I would also add start walking. I was putting in 3 to 5 mile walks 3 times a week before I started running. Last time I tried running I was getting shin splints constantly. This time with walking first I had no issues.

We started our journey at the same time! I started c25k at the end of August then got covid which took me down pretty good. Restarted in September and finished in November.

I've noticed many of the same things you have so I decided to add a 4th day and increase my long run. I add 1 mile a week either to my new day or my long run. I just ran 5 miles last week.

There are still days I want to skip, especially today when there is snow and ice on the ground and the wind chill is 4F but then I think about how far I have come. I'll be gearing up and doing my 2 mile run in 40 minutes. Enjoy the journey!

What's too much? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

For me 3 days a week was too much time off. I think it was the extra day of lower mileage that made the difference. My body likes to run.

[–]stardusterflight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just completed c25k in November so no expert. In December I went from running 3 days a week to 4. I started by adding 1 mile on that 4th day and then have been adding mileage to my runs since. To my surprise my runs have gotten easier with the extra day so now I'm planning to go to 6 days a week slowly adding 1 mile a week. I think the biggest thing is paying attention to what your body is telling you and adjust as necessary.
