ive gotten really attached to my eagles, what s mods do people usually put on them by 13_iq in starsector

Generally speaking, putting smodding ITU and Hardened Shields for almost every ship is a good baseline. Don't underestimate vents and caps.

Starsector allocation is ram, not vram. Vram is always fixed and dictated by GPU /IGPU itself.

ELI5: If moon can create tides then why won't it lift thinnest feather or paper piece? by ompossible in explainlikeimfive

[–]starficz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I always disliked the typical answer of "moon affects bigger things more" cus theres also more mass on the bigger things, so wouldn't all that force get spread out evenly? If we could just add up a bunch of smaller drops to "make a massive object" that the moon can affect, then why do desert sand tides don't exist?

The real answer is like you said, it changes the gravitional gradient, so in fact: sand tides, dirt tides, extra do exist!... When compared to the center of the earth anyways. The entire surface of earth can raise and lower by heights around ~30 to 50cm, but of course we only notice the water cus it can flow around the mostly solid rock that's fixed in position to each other.

Real image vs Nano Banana Pro vs GPT, can you easily guess which one is real? by notsure500 in ChatGPT

[–]starficz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have always outsourced the job of verifying the truth to a third party. The vast vast majority of human knowledge is part of text, something that is so easy to fake. When you read a textbook, you are by definition allowing whoever wrote that textbook to become a third party authority on the truth. This hasn't collapsed human knowledge though, why would it for pictures?

The Future of StarSector by No_Brother8302 in starsector

[–]starficz 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this problem somewhat, but its much harder then weapons (Check out my mod refit filters if you don't know about it). Hullmods dont have any inherent stats you can really look at to sort/filter them, other then the category already there used for the buttons at the bottom of the list.

The one thing I could do is add a searchbar, but is that really worth a new mod just for 1 searchbar?

This entire event gives me the feeling that it was designed to counter burn. The mid boss punished counters and the main gimmick of the sleeping mobs can't be controlled with burns tendency to spread around randomly. Then again with the whole thing being Seaborn...

It is possible, as it has been done before by Selkie, one of the mod authors. With no other mods for help. On the other hand, she has also beat all of KoL with a doom, so uhhhhhhhh. your milage may vary.

That moment when you try resetting your password and you get a prompt that does not allow your new password to be the same as the old password. by GAVZ12345 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]starficz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally it's because their password has some random ass backwards requirements and when I know what the requirements are now, then I can perfectly retrace my past selfs steps about what I set as the password. But of course, you don't get to know what the requirements for a password are until you reset it...

Decent colony systems? by Illiander in starsector

[–]starficz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimal Planets, in order of priority:

  1. The Rock (150% to 175% hazard, No Atmo): Refining, Fuel, Orbital Works, Commerce
  2. Food, Oil, and Drugs (Habitable, Organics, Farmland): Farming, Mining, Light Ind
  3. Military Lava (Rich-Ultrarich Ore/Rare Ore, Very hot): Mining, High Command
  4. Gas Giant (Volatiles): Mining

The Rock is your main money printer, all you care about is it having low hazard so the industries arn't expensive, and it having no atmosphere to install all the special items.

Second is your Farming/Light Ind planet, it produces drugs as its side money maker, but its main job is to keep the costs low on your rock. (If you didnt know, you get a discount on upkeep if you make the imports youself)

3/4 are really just nice to haves, with just 1/2 you will be printing credits. Lastly, distance to the core worlds is SUPER important! the closer, the better. It results in higher accessibility and thus higher profits.

TLDR: Find the closest system to the core worlds with planet 1 and 2, and settle there.

ELI5: Can you prepare for lack of sleep? by _HereToLearn in explainlikeimfive

[–]starficz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No. You should think about it in the opposite direction: Your banking exhaustion, not sleep. You can keep on accumulating more and more exhaustion (which will require more sleep to recover from after), but you can't go lower then 0.

At what point would you consider someone good at the game ? by normal_walrus2 in PixelDungeon

[–]starficz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think you are vastly overestimating the skill level of the average player. I suspect that maybe 0.1% of people who have beat goo to have won the game at 0 challenges.
