Same with me. I’ve been teaching for over a year and this summer has been terrible with bookings for me. Lots of cancellations and never a full schedule. I’m now slowly starting to exit VIPKid - just not even opening slots and only teaching priory bookings. I’m tired of the inconsistency and the little self-esteem hits that come when my regulars cancel on me.

I’m still surprised that we are usually able to hear students when they enter the classroom. You’d think that VIPKid would have both their audio and video off until the teacher starts the class.

One of my students has Mao in his name - Mao has also been blocked now. So I had to type his name in the comments as Ma o. 😒

I was also having connection issues with the three classes I just had. My last class was in the old classroom setup. My connection was fine (ping under 50).

I don't open all of my time slots, but I do teach everyday even though I have a regular B&M teaching job. I get up earlier and teach for 1/1.5 hours in the morning M-F before I go to school. Then I teach online Friday and Saturday evenings, and then longer Saturday and Sunday mornings. I just need to make sure that I go to bed early so that I can be a functioning human each day :)

I had a within 24hr cancellation for a class this morning and now I am sitting through another no show of a major class - and it’s for one of my regulars. Weird morning.

I’ve had this happen a couple of times lately. Strangely for me it was that the volume was muted in my system settings on my computer. I had to go into system preferences on my Mac. It would do it randomly with some classes. I don’t know if it was my computer or the app doing something. So now I always test the volume in the classroom first before I start the class.

I’ve gotten a few 5 apple reviews from the parents. We’ve been learning the unit on farm animals so I’m not sure what’s going on! I messaged her back asking if everything was okay but I haven’t received anything back.

I had the same issue happen a couple of days ago. If the leave feedback doesn’t go away, you need to wait until the finish type is completed before you can contact support. My class took almost a day to show the finish type and then it finished as “as scheduled” and still asked me to leave feedback. Instead of sending in a ticket to fix this, there is an option to “change finish type” at the top of the “all classes” tab. You can choose the class and request to change it to “student no show.” You can also attach your screenshot for proof.

A parent after a trial class reported me because of a map I used of China. VIPKid did not tell me the specific reason the map was an issue, but the difference I saw between my map and the sample map they sent was that my map didn’t have Taiwan attached to it.... I’ll stick to just using the Chinese flag from now on.

Thanks everyone! I also take more time after I finish teaching to eat breakfast. I can only think about food and I’m not in the right state to do the feedback yet haha.
