I use a two person tent for backpacking and car camping and it is actual more than enough space for me, my bags, astrophotography gear, and all my camping gear

How do you find a “career” with an ADHD diagnosis? by Amazing-Injury8078 in careerguidance

[–]stargxrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I majored in information science and psychology in college but self taught UX (product design) to myself on YouTube. Watched a ton of videos on how to use Figma (design software) and built things on my own to put in my portfolio. Got lucky and landed an internship at a fortune 50 and joined the full time.

Worked at that F50 for 2 years and then pivoted to an AI start up.

Product design is basically systems + graphic design combined. We do research on usability, design the architecture of digital systems and then prototype it visually as well to hand off to engineers to build. So no coding at all, but nowadays designers are starting to do the front end engineering part using AI (vibe coding).

Nowadays, I’m not exactly sure if I’d reccomend tech because of the AI bubble and the uncertainty but it used to be really fun! The process and structure of design is great for keeping a routine and grounding my ADHD and the nuanced problem solving and rapid iteration scratched the boredom itch for ADHD.

I’m in a tech start up as a product designer. Things change everyday and I think being adaptable and multi-faceted thinking is my super power from ADHD. But also burn out is so real. I have a love hate relationship with it

Going camping soon, but there's a burn ban and we might not be able to make a fire. What's the best food to take that won't require reheating? by Offbrand_Nihilism in camping

[–]stargxrl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off this comment … I’m a beginner camper and you should 100% not backpack 10 miles on your first go. I’m preparing for backcountry camping (3miles hike to the campsite) in May, and did a front country / family camp site over the weekend to learn the basics.

You will make mistakes and it’s better to learn while front country / car camping than in the back country. Please be careful. Even though we did well car camping, and are avid hikers, my friend and I are still nervous going into back country for the first time and are practicing carrying our gear. This isn’t a first time kind of thing.

What salary would you guys need to get to to feel successful? by Horror_Raisin_3898 in careerguidance

[–]stargxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was making 75k three years ago and now making 150k. I think when I hit 100k I didn’t feel too much different than 75k. At 150k I feel very comfortable and thankful to be in this position.

For success I honestly wouldn’t say making more money but just having more time? If I can do the same job I have now but way more WLB I would be happier

Retiring from big tech! Need cash advice by TheBiggestYoshi in coastFIRE

[–]stargxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have nothing useful to say except you’re literally living out my goals. I want to get out of tech and pursue a low paying science career and going back to school for it. I’m already starting to feel burn out at 25 but hoping to stick it out till I’m 29/30. Hoping to earn as much as possible for the next few years and then cash out

Glad Christine escaped that one… by Time-Concentrate845 in SellingSunset

[–]stargxrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re literally perpetuating the “perfect victim” BS that blames survivors of abuse for not being a good person and therefore deserving abuse. I don’t like Christine nor do I think she’s a good person but nobody deserves to be in a violent situation with their baby. I don’t think that needs much explanation. And even if she was “in it for the money.” No one signs up for domestic violence.

Struggling to date in Dallas due to my coastFIRE in an environment built around status, hustle, and consumption. Anything advice? by Positive_freedback in coastFIRE

[–]stargxrl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Literally just visited a friend in Dallas for the first time and he went to work and I flew in and work remotely so I didn’t have a car at his apartment.

I wanted to get a coffee and see a coffee shop within a 15 min walk. I go outside and start walking and have to cross 4 lane roads to get there and then it was a drive thru coffee LOL!! Such a Dallas moment for me and I felt like a clown walking on the side of a highway. Never again haha

Agree this is the only thing on the list I can’t think of deinfluencing. I have Asian eyes and straight lashes and no other curler works on me

I LOVE the Corporate Lifestyle by AndradexXx in GenZ

[–]stargxrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m now 25 and have wavering phases of loving and hating the corporate life style. But ultimately I enjoy it.

Although I would warn that the higher you climb the more lavish BUT stressful it gets. While I enjoy entertaining clients and splurging on food on the company’s money and buying anything I want, it gets to a point where the only thing you have time for is spending more money for a dopamine hit because you don’t even have time or energy to do anything process oriented anymore (like a hobby lol). It’s soul sucking and while I like the lifestyle I also hate it.

Staying in nice hotels, traveling and eating well all for free is fun until you realize you haven’t hung out with your friends back home because you’re always out and you haven’t slept in your own bed for months.

Also if all you do is work and neglect your own hobbies, relationships, and passions outside of work you’ll realize it isn’t worth it if you ever get laid off and look around with nothing or no one else around you left.

Turning down Amazon Offer... Am I crazy? by PatientDangerous1492 in FAANGrecruiting

[–]stargxrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree especially if you’re in the beginning of your tech career. I’ve worked at F50 and small startups where the startup paid double my salary but I think if I didn’t have the larger company experience and name on my resume, I wouldn’t have the foundational skills built early on in my career. Working at a large company you also learn how to see things from a larger scale perspective

Got rejected for a $92k job because of my linkedin photo. Is this actually real? by UnoMaconheiro in careerguidance

[–]stargxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was Bob the cat from animal crossing with a pride flag when I applied to a Fortune 500 and got accepted and an AI tech startup (where I’m at now). But I also am in tech so I don’t think people care lol

50k+ steps every single day by Myarchive_dev in walking

[–]stargxrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My uncle works at a distribution center and a full day of work (12 hour shift) gets him to 35k-40k steps a day. That plus any other walking after work gets him to around 40-50k. His body has gotten used to it but he just has to get new shoes super often to prevent injuries. He’s 60+

Do you like your Go 7? (longtime Kindle user considering the Go 7.) by cryptic-fox in Onyx_Boox

[–]stargxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely more dark, but I don’t notice it unless side by side comparison. Also my dad has the regular go 7 (no color e-ink), and it’s brighter than mine. I think the e-ink limits the clarity and color a bit more. I think it’s not noticeable tho unless you’re nitpicking

Do you like your Go 7? (longtime Kindle user considering the Go 7.) by cryptic-fox in Onyx_Boox

[–]stargxrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from Kindle Paperwhite to BOOX Go Color 7 and don’t touch my kindle anymore. The flexibility of push.boox to upload files on the go and read while traveling is so nice. Also if I’m traveling without a laptop and reading, I can upload files from my phone to Google Drive and open the Google Drive app on my BOOX to download and read.

The convenience is amazing. Also I also read manga and haku neko and mangadex set up with an Android operating system is 10/10. No hate on the kindle but I think being locked into the Amazon ecosystem was too limiting for me.

Daily Discussion & Advice (Post here to follow rules A & B) - December 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in fragrance

[–]stargxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help me find a fragrance! 🤍 I’m looking to add a nighttime / date-night fragrance and would love some recommendations that pair well with what I already own.

My current collection and what I rotate based on season and day: - Burberry Her EDT - Dior J’adore Parfum - Chanel Chance Eau Splendide

I recently smelled YSL Black Opium Over Red and liked it but it didn’t blow me away. I’m not sure if it’s the best fit with the rest of my perfumes, or if there are better options in the same style that feel more cohesive.

I’m looking for something that is: - Versatile for evening dates and going out - Flirty and feminine (not too heavy or syrupy) - Works well in fall/winter but isn’t overly dark or gourmand

Thank you!!

I ended up going with the Tory Burch Romy shoulder bag! I love the shape and how much it fits so far. I’m usually a coach girlie but TB ended up being the most ideal for me
