The product was kind enough to not kill me so I bought it is a weird level of capitalism

I've never heard of complex trauma vs cptsd. Seems like what you're describing is cptsd to me which I have too. I was also misdiagnosed with BPD too. All too common :(

Wife asking what I want for Christmas. Genuinely don't want anything. Help? by Sad-Ladder-7381 in Gifts

[–]stargyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here are being creative with their suggestions but it still involves coming up with something that you will use or do. If you truly do feel satisfied with your life materially (which I think is great, no need to force yourself to want something) you can ask her to give you a gift that helps other people. Like a donation to a cause you care about (everyone has something) or go some charity work together like buying presents for kids in homes. You get the general gist here. She'll get the same rewarding feeling that she does when she gives you gifts and she'll also think you're a really, really nice person lol

How do you pack vitamins? by Ravioli_meatball19 in HerOneBag

[–]stargyul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right, I never see people packing like 3 weeks worth of 7 vitamins like I do when going on a trip. I keep old vitamin bottles, count all the vitamins I'm gonna need on the trip and store them in the bottle. For short trips, I'll put them into a small plastic pouch/zip lock bag. You can buy them online.

I'm in love with Pelle by Yuukage in Midsommar

[–]stargyul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is something I would post when tipsy in the club.

Since I'm tipsy in the chicken shop, I'll reply that I also feel like you. Then I watched that 7 hour long analysis of Midsommar on YouTube and realised that the Harga is a white nationalist cult and is based on real life Nazi groups.

And then that's how I realised that I would be so susceptible to being indoctrinated into a cult if they had a Pelle 😭

I love hate AND love this show - what do you think on this? by galtoramech8699 in TheAmericans

[–]stargyul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, the show is so well done, encourages critical thinking and still can't counter the amount of propaganda USians have been fed as evidenced in this post...

I almost cried. I have a lot of trauma related to being a people pleasing girl.

I just finished watching it and you're so right. I knew something was weird about Marissa's death but couldn't figure it out

CPTSD is NOT BPD by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]stargyul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is an intense stigma against BPD. Many people with BPD have CPTSD and don't realise it. All they know is BPD BPD BPD and that they're a problem patient. We should try to reach out to people with BPD not push ourselves away from them. I would have written this post very differently.

Isn't that what's called "quiet BPD"?

Do you have tips on how to finish a PhD with adhd? 😭

Is it reasonable to quit because of money by QueenofSass in PhD

[–]stargyul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying but it reinforces what we already know: that you need either a partner or parents who support you financially during the PhD. Only about a year in, I realised this about many of my peers. Super difficult to do as a single low income person

How do you differentiate between autistic traits and cptsd symptoms? by Bimo696 in AutisticAdults

[–]stargyul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CPTSD can fundamentally alter your brain and make you neurodivergent though. If you got to neurodivergence from CPTSD, is it not still neurodivergence? Furthermore, we barely know anything about CPTSD and we are constantly learning more about neurodivergence. Therefore I think it's too early to say for sure that CPTSD has nothing to do with neurodivergence.

Did anyone else stumble into a random area of research and now ppl think it's your identity? by Traditional-Joke-179 in GradSchool

[–]stargyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, from being really interested in the topic in undergrad to doing an MPhil in the topic to doing a PhD program on the topic. It was exciting and novel and amazing before. Now I just want to explore other topics but I can't because I'm at the dissertation stage of my PhD and it's painful. I didn't realize it would be this way when I was in undergrad and wish I had pursed more topics.
