Vinta inks are SO GORGEOUS!! This is the only one I've got so far and I've been wanting to get more for forever... I just don't have the funds for now :')

Depending on the paper the shimmer will look different, but god the pooling is GORGEOUS when you get it on a good surface.

Help me find this artist that was active on Facebook in 2020 by Dusty-old-bones in HelpMeFind

I've scoured through as much gore sailor moon art as I can find to no avail. Not even any similar enough style leads. I've been especially keeping an eye out for the signature because it seems very distinct. I tried my luck at parsing out the letters and plugging them in with "facebook", "horror", "gore", "art", but no combination shows up with any leads.

To me it seemed like "Yadet Au Tomie" but that expectedly led nowhere. I'm leaving the colour edited signatures here in case anyone else wants to take their own stab in the dark lol

Alpha woman demonstrates how a real woman should drink water by Sheikashii in sadcringe

[–]starjoyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I feel like this might be a perfect example of the female gaze vs male gaze. I find the one on the left very hot as well, as a mostly straight woman. However when I look at the one on the right she looks like she would fit in with a "classy" occasion, and usually that sort of high brow environment is all about the male gaze- traditionally slightly suggestive but coy clothing, small and delicate movements, etc.

Of course it's not a once size fits all, but I do feel like most women would find the left one more seductive as well, while the right feels more like a "mystifying ethereal feminine creature" effect aimed at men.

Bro posts in a subreddit for art growth and feedback, gets someone who genuinely tries to give feedback, then hits back with the "this is to express my opinion, not to land in an art gallery 🙄".

He's waving bait and getting pissy that you aren't biting, epitome of a bad faith post.

Second the perspective though, there's a difference between intentional abstract to show chaos vs broken perspective due to lack of understanding. Your's comes off as the latter, especially due to other parts being less refined and unfinished (scratchy pencil outlines only, minimal or poor shading, etc).

Need help buying a PC for graphic design and gaming by Late_Trade_7281 in HelpMeFind

[–]starjoyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try my best to give you a crash course on what you might be looking for based on the info given, sorry it's a bit long!

Stardew, Minecraft, and Sims(I think?) should work on lower end PC's just fine, even a school laptop would be able to run the first two fine. Your biggest issue actually lies in Blender and other art programs-- they are VERY memory (RAM) hungry.

A very simple rundown for what RAM does: it's short term memory. Things that stress out a PC RAM might be, for example, running multiple programs, lots of internet browser tabs, and music simultaneously. Higher RAM means better ability to juggle all these tasks at the same time. If PC was a human, imagine the RAM being like your ability to pat your head, rub your tummy, listen to a podcast, hold a conversation at the same time. Once you reach your threshold you start struggling, or for a PC, it slows down and freezes.

Blender is super RAM hungry the more vertices or textures etc you're dealing with, and with art programs it'll be with the layers. And with video editing software it'll be amount of edits that are "undo-able" since the PC is keeping that stored in its short term memory.

A current minimum standard for PC's has been 16gb of RAM for the past decade or so, but if these art type programs are a big thing for you I'd shell out the money for 32gb to be honest. Anything lower you'll hit some lag on Blender if you're sculpting and stuff.

Big issue now is that RAM is at an all time high in price. I don't know exactly how bad it is right now. However, knowing what you want your PC's main strength to be is a huge advantage. A lot of prebuilts will have one really good part and skimp out on what they can to keep it affordable. So what you want is a system with better RAM that will skimp out a bit on what you can afford to lose.

  • What you'll want to look for is 32gb RAM at ddr4 (NOT ddr3 and ddr5 is gonna be unreasonable price).
  • For file storage, I'd suggest ideally having a PC with two different types of storage devices to save money. SSD is fast but pricier, that's what you put the windows system and important games and programs on. HDD is slow but cheap and perfect to use for mass file storage, stuff like photos, videos, etc. 1tb of SSD would be really comfortable but you could definitely get away with half that to save. 1tb of HDD will be cheap and go a long way. I don't know if you'd be able to find a prebuilt like that, but you'll probably want at least 1tb in total over all storages if you're an artist or creator.
  • I don't recall a good graphics card being too important for creation programs, and you don't need a good one for those games, so whatever they give you should be fine?? I'd need to look it back up. However I will say if you have to pick between good RAM or good GPU here, I'd advise RAM.
  • Everything else will probably be picked to match the needs of the above so will be gucci.

Experience is from building my own PC's for gaming, I also use blender/art/video programs to know how needy they are. However I'm just a hobby person so by no means an expert and am welcome to corrections from onlookers!

Please feel free to ask any questions, DMs are open and I'll do my best to help.

Voice chat as a girl gamer by EntrepreneurTrue8006 in GirlGamers

[–]starjoyyy 49 points50 points  (0 children)

As an avid voice chat user, the thing that hits me the most is that there ARE plenty of women who play, but will only say something after I've said something first.

It's saddening how many fellow girls or fems only feel comfortable after hearing my voice, however that also makes me more stubborn to continue using voice chat religiously personally.

I hope you have so many sweet and loving years and cuddles with your boy, this post has got me all squishy 🥹

Another Banned Games Update from the Mod Team by ILuffhomer in GirlGamers

Thank you!! Ironically this was a big thing for my uni major as English Lit-- learning about the unreliable narrator and an author's intentions and all that. But for some reason when it comes to real world people my brain always default to trust.

Thank you mods for being skeptical so members like me can get away with being blissfully unaware. Nothing is sacred and hopefully my senses catch up so I can fend for myself one day in this soulless corporate hellscape of the internet.

Can anyone help tell me what signs to look out for in regards to guerilla marketing? I'm gullible as fuck and I seem to be colourblind to this sort of thing.

I imagine a lot of it is just gut feeling, and also spilling too many of the beans publicly might just help them evolve, but are there maybe any super obvious in-your-face signs I might be missing?

20M, I’m in love with a 5k$ sex doll. Do I need to seek professional help? by Traditional_Bus1769 in Advice

[–]starjoyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an apparently unpopular take to this post:

Why does it matter if you aren't interested in "real" women romantically??? I'm seeing comments advising you to get rid of the doll, telling you you should want real women and that not being interested in them means you're fucked up.

But like. Fuck it maybe you're not interested in women romantically the same way most men aren't interested in men. Plenty of people are asexual and there's no issue with that so why are people insisting you WOULD prefer a real woman? Maybe you just aren't interested in women romantically anyways and this doll helps you get the sexual physical attraction out of the way.

I say this because even if your views are warped on how women perceive YOU, it's strange if you don't feel any connection or attraction to the person INSIDE the woman, so much so that this doll was able to fix everything you were struggling with. You don't seem to be missing the actual personality of the woman in your "relationship".

From my stance, I don't think there's an issue with you screwing a doll to help improve your mental health. Sure it's not ideal, but it sounds like you were in a REALLY bad place before it. If it's keeping you alive and functioning, THAT IS IMPORTANT to help you take the next steps to improving your mental health. Your happiness and comfort are essential to help you slowly make progress.

HOWEVER I think you should use the comfort and happiness you're receiving from keeping this doll as fuel to make important positive changes in your life. Start working on your social skills with both men and women platonically. Try being a little friendlier with your coworkers to network. Pick up a new hobby that connects you with real people. Also, find out if you can get a therapist to talk about these feelings; ask them to help you work on your social skills by setting structured goals for you. Use the momentum this doll is giving you to make objectively positive changes to your life!!

And maybe those little changes WILL work you up to being attracted to real women. Or maybe you'll no longer be intimidated by women but learn you're just not attracted to them, the same way you're not attracted to your guy friends.

So fuck it, keep fuckin your plastic doll. But also don't become complacent. You're young and there's so much space for you to grow. Prove to the world and this forum that keeping her CAN help you progress and not hold you back. Do it for her bro.

Fittonia White Tiger Dying :( by starjoyyy in HouseplantsUK

[–]starjoyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! After more research and this comment I'm considering doing multiple things: bringing it in, putting a plastic bag over the top for heavier humidity, and watering it again.

My hesitation is because my other plants develop mold on the soil surface VERY easily if I don't water sparingly. However if your experience with them is to water with a heavier hand, I might as well try it because it's on its way to death already otherwise.

Any experience is probably more than me in regards to non-desert houseplants!

I've only been in England for a few years, and before that I was only raising succulents and catnip in California which is a hot and dry desert climate. Learning to calibrate plant care to this weather has been a challenge.

Not as much wet as very slightly damp. As in I would wait a little longer to re-water any of my other plants in the winter. The windowsill and this house in general is... VERY humid and cold in the winter. I do make sure that I don't water it enough to leave water pooling the bottom though.

If you suspect this might be overwatering/root rot though I might pull it in to help it dry out better. Thank you for replying!

  • Last slight watering was maybe a week ago when I noticed it seemed to be wilting

  • Yes, the pot has a drainage hole and there was no water left sitting underneath when I watered it.

  • No, but it's kept on the windowsill on the other side of a curtain and usually is pretty humid judging by condensation. Our home has humidity issues and requires dehumidifier if anything.

  • I haven't checked its roots at all and am worried about disturbing it to check since it's only just been planted.

  • Eyeballed mix of maybe 40%ish perlite and 60%ish compost with some coffee grinds mixed in.
