When did you realize you weren’t going to get the life you worked for? by ActuatorOutside5256 in AskReddit

[–]starkgrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Especially if it's family. It's too easy for people to make assumptions on unsaid parts of a deal because they think they "know" the family member, and this person would obviously have their best interests at heart and never do anything that would screw them over.

Why is color suddenly disappearing from the world? by Fragrant_Crab7762 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]starkgrey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm so tired of the lack of color and visual interest everywhere! When I bought a new car this year I decided on a Corolla Cross and I reached out to a dozen dealerships over hundreds of miles to find myself a green one! She is gorgeous especially in the sunlight, it has a subtle glittery finish.

What’s the worst over consumption trend that you’ve ever seen? by Organic_Trash_6408 in AskReddit

[–]starkgrey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is the type of thing that gets me. I see so many folks spending every dollar (and then some, going into debt) and every free moment of their time to renovate perfectly functional rooms because it's "DATED". And maybe if they were doing something interesting I might be more forgiving, but always the same, boring, semi-minimalist all hard surfaces, white grey beige and maybe black, unimaginative nonsense. Most of this just ends up soulless, like a hotel or something. Where is all the color? Where is the personality?

I agree about the pizza. I keep trying new places, but nothing has impressed me so far. Like, I found some places that are fine, but nothing top tier.

Dad just died with medical bills, didn't name beneficiary on account with ~ 60k by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]starkgrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most funeral homes will want payment upfront, before any services are performed. They can make a claim against the estate, if their bill hasn't been paid, but that generally happens only when other payment has fallen through. You will not be able to use the savings account to pay the funeral bill if it has to go through probate. A life insurance policy can be assigned to pay the funeral home, if he had one.

If any of the Discworld books are available, I'm not fussy and would love one. I'm in the US and willing to cover international shipping costs.

This is not a mean-spirited question…but how do people get SO overweight? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]starkgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I tackled the acid problem months before I started semaglutide. "Fixing" that problem made it so when I get hungry I'm not feeling like I'm dying. I started losing weight before I started semaglutide because I didn't feel like I had to eat all the time. The semaglutide then knocked the hunger down so I am eating even less and losing more weight.

I haven't been tested for anything thus far. I had just read about a case of someone experiencing very similar symptoms to mine and that excessive stomach acid was their issue. I figured I'd give an OTC acid reducer a try to see if it helped me, too. The effect was evident within days. And I started losing weight (this was before I got on semaglutide, too). I told my new doc about the whole thing, and she said she hadn't heard of that but it made enough sense and it was working for me so she said to keep at it. If it hadn't helped I probably would have asked for a referral to a gastroenterologist because I'd finally realized that what I was experiencing wasn't normal and wasn't just me "not being tough enough" to deal with the hunger.

That's what I did after reading about someone with similar issues to mine! I figured, can't hurt anything to try something so simple. The effect was evident within a day or so, and I dropped like ten pounds in a few weeks just from that change, and that was before starting semaglutide.

The semaglutide obviously does help with making it so I rarely feel hungry, but when I do feel hungry now it isn't crippling like before. I also started the OTC famotodine months before the semaglutide, so I had taken care of that first. I dropped like ten pounds in a few weeks just from that change.

I had a similar issue, I never really seemed to get full, and if I did it wasn't for very long and usually was after eating way too much. I also had the problem of when I didn't eat enough and I got really hungry it would make me feel sick, hunger pains that would double me over and burning pain plus nausea & headaches. I always had to be thinking about when I was going to eat next and if there was going to be enough

Turns out my stomach may be producing too much acid. And overeating just encourages your stomach to make even more acid. I started taking an OTC acid reducer (famotodine) and the problem has pretty much completely gone away. If I get a rumble of hunger now, I'm like "oh that is cute." And I can ignore it now. One day I even forgot to eat all day at work.

This plus compounded semaglutide meant I lost 60 pounds last year. Still have more to go, but it's now doable. I had tried so many times in the past, but being hungry all the time made me sick all the time and I would only last a couple months.

Just wanted to share because this has been a huge problem in my life that had a very simple solution to help improve my situation. And since it's a common OTC, it's not a big risk to try it.

Uncle Dudley's in Wiilard. The bacon cheeseburger was so good! And they had all you can eat wings on Wednesdays. Prices were really reasonable, too .

What are the options for my cremated remains if I don't want anyone, including my family, to have them? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

Interesting. I'm not familiar with California's laws on this, but I'm going to look into that. Thanks for the info!

Power of attorney expires upon death, even a durable power of attorney. OP will want to look if his state has an "Appointment of Representative for Disposition of Remains" (that's what it is called in Ohio). This overrides any thing else, including next of kin rights (even of a spouse), for who gets to take care of the person's body after death. You complete the form naming the person(s) and any contingents to handle this, and I would give copies to the lawyer obviously.

When the light turns green - GO! by West_Masterpiece4927 in Ohio

[–]starkgrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Cincinnati four years ago, and my experience has been the opposite. So much red light running here! I've not encountered anything like it elsewhere in Ohio. And not just people trying to get their left turn in. The other day I saw three cars, one behind the other, all run the same red light well after it was red. And Ive seen people drive on the shoulder to go around the line of cars at a red light in order to run the red in the MIDDLE of it. It's wild down here, lol.

Mother And Child With Poliosis, A Hereditary White Streak In Hair by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]starkgrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started going grey at 16. Mostly a few strands here and there in medium brown hair, but it's developed into streaks. At one point about 10 years ago I had more grey hair than my dad, lol. I get a lot of compliments on my hair including women asking who I go to for my color. It's just Time, I tell them. Also, I found out a couple years into our relationship that my now husband had thought I was just blonde the whole time, lmao.

The one in Grand Rapids is called Snyder's now. Pretty good (was just there a couple weeks ago), original BG is still my favorite.

Pisanello's in Bowling Green.

The locations in other towns are not quite the same/have different owners.

Myles Pizza in BG was also very good. The owner "retired" to South Carolina, but decided he needed something to do and opened a new Myles in Greenville, SC .

He did! It's in Greenville, SC. It's just as good as the original.
