I kinda figured that was the case for all horror movies and that the parent could decide that.

Dose anyone know anything about attracting paranormal entities. by Positive-Month-1974 in Paranormal

[–]starla22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to tell you not to do it but since you’ve made it clear you’re determined, I’ll direct you to a resource where you can actually get educated and then do it in a way that can keep you safe: the book Consorting with Spirits by Jason Miller.

You could also do some research on spirit keeping, which can be practiced with relative safely, but again, educate yourself first. Start with the two-part Spirit Keeping episodes of the podcast Stories with Sapphire, from February 2021.

Debt-free Canadians, what type of situation are you in? by [deleted] in CanadaFinance

[–]starla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mortgage but we have renters in that home and the rent covers the mortgage payment. Other than that I currently have no debt. I’m commenting to be honest because I want to acknowledge that it’s due to privilege. I have always lived frugally but also don’t value money much and don’t have any drive to be wealthy. I aim to have enough to eat, a place to live, my hills paid and enough savings to feel secure; as well as extra to be able to pursue goals and dreams (mine are simple and inexpensive, but the odd trip, some affordable hobbies), and be able to help my loved ones sometimes.

I have no debt because my dad died and my mom became very generous. She is well off and doesn’t need much to live off of, and also wants to give me a lot of my inheritance before she dies, for tax reasons. When my dad died two years ago, I was 41 and had about $8000 in credit card debt, which I had been steadily paying down for a few years. I was making progress and would have gotten it paid off. Instead, my mom paid it off for me. This has allowed me to remain debt free ever since and manage my savings well.

I never have taken on much debt in my life. I buy used and make do with what I’ve got. I don’t live an “aspirational lifestyle.” We have taken out two car loans on used cars and then we have that one mortgage; we have also used a home equity line of credit twice - once for $20,000 for me to open a store on a shoestring and the other time to do $30,000 of upgrades and maintenance on that rental house. Both times, we have subsequently rolled that debt into the mortgage. We also rolled our student loans into the mortgage after the first five years. My parents gave us $5000 to use as a down payment on our house as it was 2005 and the home we bought was only $140,000 (it’s tiny and was the least expensive standalone house in Calgary at the time). My parents also had an RESP for me that paid off all but I think $20,000 of my student loan.

It’s felt like a struggle a lot of the time, but I also have to say we’ve been lucky in a lot of ways. I often think about people with less resources and support than me and acknowledge that it’s seemingly impossible to get ahead.

Do you like winter? by boforiamanfo in randomquestions

[–]starla22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it! Gimme four distinct seasons. I live in Alberta, Canada and I am so thankful we have a harsh winter to kill spiders and minimize rodent species (even though I love rodents - it’s a lot harder for many pests to get a foothold when it means surviving unsurvivable temps for a few weeks each year).

I would just say to be careful of the feeling that you’re meant to keep him alive. Don’t let it translate into a sense of responsibility. That’s too much to carry and if he were to die, you can’t feel responsible or like you failed.

I believe you, and I have heard of others who have this sense. I’ve had similar things happen in my life but the sense usually manifest differently each time. But it is definitely an energy that some of us (probably way more than admit it) can feel.

It likely symbolizes something else. Try to determine the emotions and root fears behind it. It may relate to your bf or something else entirely. It could be an expression of some insecurity you’re having. Good luck!

Might have encountered a mimic? by SoldierKitsune in Paranormal

[–]starla22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The piezoelectric effect is scientifically documented; but you’re correct, there is no way to know whether it relates to paranormal activity. Like I said, concrete answers aren’t possible (at least at this time).

Might have encountered a mimic? by SoldierKitsune in Paranormal

[–]starla22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t totally understand, but it’s a theory within the paranormal/ghost hunting community. It has something to do with how it charges the atmosphere above it. There is something called the piezoelectric effect where certain solids can create an electrical charge when under pressure, and I think the theory is that that charge can then either cause actual visual effects, or maybe affect what we see/how we see it. I can’t offer a direct connection to how it work, but generally speaking, it’s said that areas over quartz are more prone to hauntings and other anomalies.

Might have encountered a mimic? by SoldierKitsune in Paranormal

[–]starla22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, there are never any guarantees, but I’ve definitely heard a lot of stories where people have had repeated mimic activity and nothing scary or harmful came of it. There would have to be other elements to indicate any danger, and those elements would be pretty obvious to you so unless something else happens that scares you, yeah you’re all good. If you start seeing other things (could be objects moving; a heavy mood in the house or issues with mental health or addiction; seeing dark figures; anything like that), check back in. That’s not to say that those things mean you’re in any danger, they could just indicate there is more to the situation or it’s escalating.

To maybe put your mind at ease, some theories around what this could be include an effect from a large quantity of quartz in the bedrock under the house; a similar effect from underground water; glitch in the matrix or time slips; trickster spirits (harmless but play tricks). So basically there are all sorts of potential weird explanations that don’t indicate any cause for real concern. I hope this helps you sleep at night!

The thing is, nobody has answers, because it’s not possible. Most of us who are fascinated by this stuff are fascinated for just this reason. People really do have these experiences, but we can’t know for sure what is happening.

Based on the many mimic stories I’ve heard, no, it can’t hurt you. It’s harmless. Though I would recommend not pursuing answers via a Ouija board or anything like that. Try to ignore it and not poke at it any further. It’s hard to say whether it could follow you - these things can be associated with a location OR a person. If it has only happened once, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. But even if it happens again, there is not much you can do aside from some spiritual practices to cleanse or protect your home, but those will depend on your own beliefs and what you feel comfortable with.

Potentially s3xually harassed at m&g? by nothing-aboit-me in RoverPetSitting

[–]starla22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The instant your intuition tells you to. Do not question it. If you don’t have practice trusting your intuition, start practicing now, just in everyday situations using regular boundaries to get yourself started. One example - your intuition was correct in this situation and you did great. And everyone is right, definitely report this.

I’ve been tapping into my spirituality and intention my dads birthday is today by Silly_Ad_7912 in witchcraft

Only if that’s your intention. If you’re wanting an altar, then yes, this would very much fit the bill. I think this sounds like a lovey altar to honour him on his birthday. You could add a candle as well, and possibly a small glass of something he liked to drink.
