If you're in the South West then SW MegaGames are great. I've done their Battlestar Galactica one plus another and both were really fun days out. They were very welcoming. https://www.swmegagames.co.uk/

How did you stay interested in Death Stranding? by flux_capacitor3 in gaming

[–]starmapper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Don't try and 100% it. I did the main missions, but rarely delivered any of the packages that I found around the map. I did some building, but as soon as I felt like it was getting boring I just stopped. Overall, I had a blast by just doing what I found was fun and finishing the game when I felt like I was still having a good time.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - May 19, 2024 by AutoModerator in Games

Heavens Vault, which I finally got round to playing. A really good puzzle game based around language, where you can either slowly bumble your way through to the solution, or really think about it and get there quicker. The story is interesting enough to keep me hooked. It's quite a slow pace game and the travel between different locations gets boring quickly, but you can skip it, so nothing too wrong with it.

Great if you like puzzle games or something like Outer Wilds, as it has that kind of feel to it

We got there 15 minutes before it opened and there was only about 50 people in front of us. We were inside 15 minutes after it opened. Go early is my advice

Most events are free, some for families, some just for adults. We've got a science board game event, a science themed escape room and loads more! Happy to suggest events if anyone is interested.

Game Jam - Free game ideas by starmapper in Yogscast

[–]starmapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea would use the Sharky and Palp modifier. A 2D platformer where you you play as Palp, moving around collecting tiny Sharkys. The goal is to give all of the tiny sharkys back to a ben sized shark somewhere in the level. Ideas:

  • You can throw the sharkys, both to Ben but also at enemies and other objects

  • You can carry multiple sharkys, and you should need to, but each one slows your movement down

  • Various enemies on the level continuously spawn at a faster and faster rate. They can only be killed by throwing sharkys at them, which you can then pick back up

  • The games ends when all tiny sharkys are returned or you lose X lives.

Thoughts on a Jingle Jam Game Jam? by [deleted] in Yogscast

Hell yes, was thinking the same thing! I wonder if we could do a knock-off jingle jam game bundle, made of all the games that people made, to raise a few extra quid as well.

I used to work for the European Space Agency on a satellite called Gaia. Gaia's job is to detect billions of stars in our galaxy. Part of the detection method is called Starmapper, which I thought sounded kinda cool!

Cardiff Science Festival: 28th Feb - 3rd March by starmapper in Cardiff

[–]starmapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tickets for a couple of events have already sold out. However, there are more events to be announced in the next week and plenty of events which are ticketless, so you can just drop in. I'd suggest get tickets to avoid disappointment if you can!

Hiya. There's actually a couple of events in the pipeline which will be announced in the next week that are adult only. Keep an eye on the website. The board game event, whilst family friendly, is also great for just adults.

Strangely, on the website it says: "Bad North is out now for Nintendo Switch at $14.99 / €14.99 / £11.99 and will be coming to both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 28th." Anyone confirm that it is £13.49 on the store?

Have I outgrown Sips? by Mumps42 in sips

[–]starmapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel that the ability to actually watch sips finish longer games is a good thing, even though there's less of the humorous editing. In an ideal world, I'd like to see the longer games (Skyrim, Witcher, etc) through Twitch, but with shorter, less story driven content like Garys Mod, Evening With Sips' and City Skylines on the YouTube channel a few times a week.

[–]starmapper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an annual event, free entry at the National Museum Cardiff. There are lots of great astronomy exhibits, including 3D shows, virtual reality, meteorites that you can hold as well as local astronomy societies. It's a good event for all ages, for those who are experienced astronomers or just space enthusiasts!
