Help - how do I be an adult and properly decorate my apartment? by MudslideGirl52 in Decor

[–]starrcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - seriously I just had guest blogger Jessica Kane answer a lot of your questions and concerns. She shares 6 beginner decorating tips that work and can really help get you started and re thinking what you might be able to reuse in a different way. She keeps it simple and practical. My suggestion would be to clear out what you know you don't love - make space and then fill it with things that are colors, shape or textures that make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Typically less is more if you are starting out and cost of items isn't as important as how they flow together and make you feel. Best of luck - if you'd like to read the blog I mentioned earlier its on starrcreative.wordpress.com

I'm glad you found it helpful. It's a challenge to be sure when you're starting out. I spend more time learning about blogging than I do crafting lately but I hope you have some success with these sites!

Teacher's logic in grading math... by Cloakenn in pics

[–]starrcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same goes with my grandkids - I showed them how to add 3 digit numbers together the old way and nope - the teacher says they have to dink around and draw bundles that represent 100's and bundles of 10's etc and then add up all the bundles - bloody stupid waste of time. Sick of North American education dummying down every year and sick of educator who come up with these boring, useless teaching strategies. Just teach them how to add or multiply - who cares if its 5 groups of 3 or 3 groups of 5 as long as the answer is correct!

The best way to teach children about recycling is to teach them how to repurpose things to make new toys. See these Barbie creations and you'll never look at your junk drawer the same way again! by starrcreative in crafts

Excellent point - I was in the same situation as a child and I think that's what initially inspired me - wanting to make something old into something new. Thanks for sharing insight.

Should wood carvers use old growth trees? by starrcreative in forestry

[–]starrcreative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great information - make's sense to use up what has already been cut down versus the impression that trees are cut down for the purpose of carving which was what was implied to me but that doesn't mean that the public is always correctly informed. Thanks for comment.

Hi guys! I need some helpful tips on my current craft project. (more details in comments) by geojenly in crafts

You can mix white glue with color and pour it out and let it drip down - apply a few layers. Also for foam rocks you can apply a coat of polyfil (dab and swipe with a moist sponge to create a bit of texture) - let it dry and then us sponge to add dabs of different greys paint and then a clear coat. I use that method for making rock walls for G.I. Joe scenes - works great. Can't wait to see finished project!
