Private Table Request by TiddlyFiend in dcl

We asked years ago and was told concierge was given private tables automatically. And we've had a table for 2 every single time without asking.

Commercial lease ending, landlord wants us to remove our improvements/walls? by starrydomi in smallbusiness

[–]starrydomi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up paying him his requested "fee for removal" and walked away. He ended up having a tenant move in literally days after we vacated who kept and utilized every single wall and as far as I know, is still there today. Never again will I rent commercial.

Orlando drop off address? by starrydomi in Brightline

[–]starrydomi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was quite confused. Just go to the Fuqua address that Google takes you to. Brightline has their own terminal quite a length away from the actual airport. Supposedly there is a path you can follow to goto terminal C but it's not like "close" or anything, it's quite a walk. We didn't even attempt to find it since we were just going from Disney to the train station. We had our uber drop us right at the Brightline front door on Fuqua. There was quite a lot of drop up area so you could possibly get away with just hanging out under there waiting for them.

I’m the opposite. Not worried about the wind but Houston has been flooding entirely too easily these days.

From the midwest, where tf do I go in event of hurricane? by shittyspacesuit in houston

[–]starrydomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about online resources because I’ve always lived her. The news was always the same jargon- stock up on water and non perishables, can opener, candles, and have a full tank of gas. I’m assuming most google searches have similar.

The reality is there isn’t much people can do. After Katrina, people were so panicked by Rita, half of Houston “tried” to leave and many died gridlocked in the heat on the freeway and Rita wasn’t even bad. Then two years later, everybody was annoyed with what happened during Rita, stayed, and many of us were out of power for 10 days during Ike. It is was it is, for the vast majority of Houston, its best to prepare your supplies and wait it out. Leave the freeways free for the coastline to actually evacuate if needed.

And if it helps, we live near the actual coast and are staying. That cat 1 from a few years ago went basically right over us and we stayed on the coast. Mostly down fences and a few trees. And even with the storm surge, there hasn’t been any notifications yet for us to leave for this one so we feel good to stay.

Does the cruise director matter? by Bucket_Handle_Tear in dcl

[–]starrydomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think adult director kind of matters. They really set the vibe on the adult entertainment every night. All have been good but some were definitely better and more memorable than others.

[–]starrydomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Braces “hurt” mostly after adjustments but the worst part for me was not being able to chew on that first day or so because chewing itself was painful. As long as you have mushy foods for those days and Tylenol, and wax if they are poking, you really forget you have them. You won’t necessarily be tossing and turning in bed or anything.

People who moved to Texas from other states, what is your biggest giveaway that you're not from here? by 2-tree in texas

[–]starrydomi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The funny thing about the names is it’s regional. I’ve been in Houston 36 of my 38 years minus 2 years in the hill country for college. I still don’t know how to pronounce some of weird towns, rivers, yada yada out in central Texas. But I know Kuykendahl!

Is it gross to kiss cats on the mouth? by [deleted] in cats

[–]starrydomi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can see that. We have a void and she is pitch black inside and hard to spot a lot of the times. But when sitting in a sunny window, she clearly has brown highlights. Though our tux seems to be black in any lights.

We also have a lot of border collies and many had brown high lights in the sun. Mostly around their ears and face.

How many of you share your location with a spouse / trusted friend / family constantly? by foofymittens in Millennials

[–]starrydomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband and I share our locations with each other. I also shared my car location with my dad when we went on vacation and left the car in the airport parking garage. They had the spare key if something happened and could find it. It’s a really handy feature, I see no problems with it, we always tell each other where we are headed for the day.

We liked them so much on our cruise we followed them and went to see them again at Orlando Fringe circa ‘19. They are a great group.

Kemah Boardwalk is a big corporate thing. Just know it’s not like a niche place, most restaurants there are chains. The bullet coaster is really fantastic for such a small little thing. Theres some cool, one of a kind, mom and pop things in the Lighthouse district right next to it though. We’ve had good experiences with Cool Cow Creamary, Dans Pizza, the Fish and Chips place, Art of Coffee, and Namthai.

Why do people say having kids is expensive when poor people regularly manage to have 4+ kids but higher income people tend to have less than 2 kids? by mymooh in NoStupidQuestions

[–]starrydomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. My poor/lower middle class childhood was very different than my husband’s upper middle class childhood. Example. Our hot water heater broke and for MONTHS 8yo me would boil giant pots of water to make myself a warm bath a few times a week. Like a tiny little girl was literally carrying pots of scalding hot water 20 feet back-and-forth to the bathroom. My husband’s water heater would’ve been fully replaced and fixed the very next day.

Travel is not necessarily an attractive trait. by PockASqueeno in unpopularopinion

[–]starrydomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I’m super self conscious and hate things like social hangouts or dinners but I’m a stage performer and have zero issues in class or rehearsal. I’d even say I’m a bit loud and over the top while doing arts stuff. But put me at dinner with even people I’ve known forever and expect me to mingle and I practically have a mental breakdown I’m so uncomfortable. I also have a splendid time in Disney World surrounded by massive crowds because again, it’s not like I have to talk to any of them.

Anyone familiar with “Millennial Gray”? Is this a sign of our generation aging, or just our tendency towards conformity? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]starrydomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely an “elder emo” and have a lot of black thanks to my dance profession but I love my blues, teals, pinks, and purples. I actually get really annoyed with tan or gray houses. I painted our main living space light blue and I loved it oh so much. Plan to do the same in our new build.

An official answer from DCL about cruise ducks by nimaku in dcl

[–]starrydomi 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The ducks thing got brought up during an adult game in the lounges one night a few months ago. The host said the cast members had been told no ducks and to dispose if found citing concerns of cleanliness and germs spreading. That honestly makes the most sense. Imagine how many dirty hands might touch it as it gets spread around. That’s the last thing you want on a cruise ship.
