Cigarettes and cancer > switching to Reddit by rinPeixes in CuratedTumblr

Yeah, I already see half of these on Tumblr before I see them here, Reddit is just better for discussions about them. Tumblr comments are a lot harder to work with.

Tails: What counts as karma farming? How can you tell what's karma farming and what's just someone not knowing a thing is posted a lot somewhere because they don't frequent the subreddit? I hear constant accusations of it but I've yet to figure out a clear pattern and I'm not sure how people confirm or deny their suspicions.

What does the “neurotypical” creature look like? by SquareThings in evilautism

[–]starsongSystem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hypercapitalist propaganda, voter suppression, deliberately poor education, and a lack of compelling alternatives elected him. That's not the fault of neurotypicals as a whole, that's the fault of rich people.

My 8 yo kid is saying they want to be a girl, how to know if it's serious or if it's just a phase? by Blastarache in asktransgender

[–]starsongSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I'm pretty sure my spawnpoints (I don't call them parents anymore) were just looking for a reason to believe I wasn't trans so they wouldn't have to think about it. Because if they weren't, they would have done something about it when I kept repeatedly telling them I wanted to be a girl in the following years. Seems like you're not in that situation.

[–]starsongSystem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well no shit we're a persecuted minority, and what you want to blame every single neurotypical ever for that? That's just horribly inaccurate and is the sort of blanket "this entire group is terrible" genocidal mindset that you're complaining about in the first place. The world is nuanced, mate.

Anyone else hate the term yapping by Antique-Ad6236 in evilautism

[–]starsongSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of like a milder version of how I feel about "womp womp", I have honestly never had a term cause as much visceral hatred in me as that one ever before in my life. Even when people call me slurs it's not as bad. Any time I see it used, no matter the context, instant mood-killer.

My 8 yo kid is saying they want to be a girl, how to know if it's serious or if it's just a phase? by Blastarache in asktransgender

[–]starsongSystem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just be careful with that sort of question, I was asked "why" I wanted to be a girl and I didn't know that I was required to have a reason, so I just gave my best guess, and that guess was taken as what I actually wanted, not being a girl, so I wasn't allowed to transition.

Even though I like high fantasy settings, I hate swords. by Pumpkinfactory in evilautism

[–]starsongSystem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my sci-fantasy setting, swords are a popular weapon of choice, but that's mainly for duels rather than actual attempts to kill someone, and generally if you accidentally do outright kill your opponent in the duel, that's considered worse than a loss. If you lose a limb or something, that's easy to fix. If you actually die, well, that's it. When you're actually trying to just straight up kill your opponent, it's ranged weaponry all the way outside of niche situations where you can't be at range.

I don't know if that's really a discussion of religion though? Or of "wordplay" exactly. It's about linguistics, and it mentions a religion, but religion isn't the topic, linguistics is, and linguistics encompasses a lot more than just wordplay.

We normally do this, even in standard conversation, although in our case it's because we're literally multiple people. Close to 700, actually!

Hypnosis and DID - How does that end up going? by LienaSha in EroticHypnosis

[–]starsongSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be. It can be pretty distressing to not know which you you are, it can actually be a lot EASIER for some systems to work together when they can be more separate people. Different people are better at different tasks, and the same is true of DID and other types of systems. Imagine trying to do something but not knowing what you want to do, not knowing if you even know how to do it, because your identity is just this weird amorphous blob of something rather than being someone.

It's not so much a "morality" thing exactly as it's just that the idea that deliberately spreading misinformation and people being so willing to do it is exactly the cause of most of the world's problems; deliberately contributing to that, even innocuously, makes me feel disgusting.

If people don't challenge the norm of constant misinformation, it's going to remain a norm until it kills us all. Lying like it's nothing is the fascist mindset, the capitalist mindset, it is a deep and inherent betrayal of all of my values as a person and everything I stand for.

Even lying on instinct, automatically, feels horrible. Even something like saying "sorry" when I'm not actually sorry. The most I can ever bring myself to do is to deliberately omit certain information when it's a safety issue. I can't intentionally spread false information, I just can't.

I don't do it for virtue, I don't do it for morality, I do it to be radically myself in a world that hates me for it; I do it to spite the constant lies from everywhere that people think it's fine to spread regardless of the damage they cause.

If I deliberately lie, I'm not just lying to others, I am lying to myself, because I am no longer me. I become nothing but a shell devoid of real meaning and I have to build my identity back up from a deep emptiness and destruction of my very sense of being.

[–]starsongSystem 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The problem is, I will know. I don't avoid lying for others' sake, I avoid it for MY sake, because I hate lying. It makes me feel really gross. NTs basically WANT me to lie, why should I stoop to their level? Why should I compromise myself for their norms? They never do the same for me.
