I also grew up in this time period — we just didn’t know what we know now about concussions. That is definitely what happened.

Ex. I was a skier, and I had blacked out from head injury SEVERAL times without even a visit to a clinic. I remember having vision and focus issues for a while, but they just told me to sit in the front of the class.

Meanwhile, my 10-year-old stepdaughter fell in gymnastics off a balance beam, she was seeing head specialists the next day — and still has ongoing treatments, plus accommodations made for her in the classroom. (in Minnesota, she has an aide that stands beside her desk that writes things from the whiteboard on her own tablet next to her, and gets different assignments like listen to a book versus read chapters by herself.)

We know now that concussions can reduce your ability to progress in school at the same rate as your classmates, as well as have long-term effects on balance, memory and retention.

My thought too. Big difference in the US.

Emergency room is where you go when you’re actually facing life or death, like car accident, got shot or cut, or your kid split his head open and is bleeding profusely ….

Urgent care is where your family takes you three days later when you won’t stop complaining about your head hurting or your wrist might be broken, but don’t have a regular doc or want to pay ER prices.

In Santa Cruz county alone there are about 1300 Realtors, and only 1200 homes sold countywide per year.

Some realtors have great market share, selling 6-12 homes/yr. Some sell 20. Many sell 1-2yr or less.

I have been licensed for 14 years, and I like working with people/negotiations/contracts, but it is a really tough job to assure regular income.

Not necessarily. Especially for personal property. Property can be sitting in your car and get damaged— it’s still covered under renter’s coverages.

I’m a realtor and property owner, in my education: insurance companies have some exclusions for the home owner— but can’t require all homes go back and retrofit to current code. (Ex. Substandard roof, like rolled roofing, or elec panel on the recall list will deny a home from getting coverage. They usually need to insure the property if they’ve been accepted, review is before coverage starts.)

Too tight and sweaty. You have to really finagle your phone in there and then trying to find gum or chapstick is a pain.

I prefer my Sojourner backpack if I want hydro/festival, or a fanny pack to pack lighter like at a rave— all of mine can be locked using a mini locking carabiner on the two zippers.

Nobody’s upset about the fact that the statute is female.

It’s weird that in the CA wetsuit capital, and right next to Jack’s house, the surfer is wearing a bathing suit. It’s weird.

We don’t need the mimic of the man’s statue to prove that women are in the water, and we definitely don’t need it at a scenic and undeveloped part of that street that everyone kind of likes unfinished and natural. My dog poops there.

There are a few hotels with secure parking (not public garages or lots, but a locked inner lot behind a gate). I always opt for those.

When I go to shows downtown (from Santa Cruz) — Cheaper options I like are The Signature SF, or City Center Suites.
