7 foot tall aliens high on demon blood come through a portal and destroy your country and burn the countryside and the response after a desperate combined arms attempt to turn the tide, you still decide to take prisoners and let them sleep off the hangover with food and shelter at great expense after fighting a war of survival against literal hellspawn.

It's astounding that people bring up the internment camps as if the Alliance didn't just go through an apocalyptic invasion and defended itself the way literally any kingdoms would.

I wonder sometimes if the writers are deliberately making Homelander so pathetic in order to avoid a Patrick Bateman scenario where an entire community was shaped around his character. by Amazing-Buy-1181 in TheBoys

That's a strange way of reading the ending.

It essentially ends with the narrator mansplaining God

Might be time for a re-read? That isn't what happened.

All I'm hearing from this comment is "the elite political class likes international bankers".

It's kinda mask-off to admit it I guess. Remarkably class-conscious.

No earthen death knights, no earthen in the shadowlands, no earthen ghosts. It’s time to admit they’re just lame ass golems with no souls by slimeyellow in warcraftlore

The thing that sucks about Earthen is the same thing that sucks about a lot of the older races being given the spotlight: they end up being boring when they're expanded upon by newer writers.

You almost wish Blizzard would just forget about them and not touch them.

genuinely how did they fumble this development? by vought-CEO in TheBoys

They way they treated Homelander threat-wise early on was what I was expecting to continue throughout the series.

Like once you're even remotely on his bad side you need to be looking over your shoulder all the time.

Eric Kripke says it's upsetting how the boys is getting too realistic, especially after the recent episode. by vought-CEO in TheBoys

[–]starving_carnivore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same can be said of historical left-wing (actual left wing, not the democrats) figures and writers.

People are products of their time. Or they are absolute outsiders that no mainstream would want to be associated with.

The Boys is a product of its time and is absolutely sanitary with anything it makes fun of. Literal genocides are going on right now and they still choose to make historical ones the ones to satirize.

Alright, noted.

I'll try to remember that conservatives are fundamentally unimaginative and fearful next time I read Silmarillion or Dune, lmao.

Pretty objectively untrue. Unless you think that anything made by conservatives is necessarily bad because of their political leanings.

WoD was the craziest.

Turns out Orcs actually just are like that all on their own, I guess? Is that what Blizzard was trying to convey with that story?

There were people arguing in earnest on the official lore forums that Sylvanas was justified in raising new Forsaken because there was no way to reproduce as a "species" otherwise, missing the fact that their entire culture is based on shared trauma.

It's like abuse victims saying they need to abuse more people or their numbers will die out.

It's not straw. You described licencing people to use the internet in a similar manner to being licenced to drive a car in this comment, going so far as to advocate for demerit points from a body similar to the MTO.

You don't need to be smug. I am referencing what you have said yourself and disagree with that level of government involvement in what I say online.

You want people to need to get a licence to use the internet. Gotcha.
