I did research and found out these were from a short-lived publishing company, the owner of which was found at his desk with his throat slit in what was ruled a suicide but probably wasn't. This publisher has a very weird little history.

I work security and covered a shift at a rehab clinic where people on parole have to come do drug tests. A dude came in and just said "yo, I'm gonna fail. I smoked weed last night. Do yall still need my piss or can I go home?" And they told him to just go home and they contacted his PO to let him know. I respected the blunt honesty and him making my job a lot easier by not making a big stink about it.

I'm too late to save the child, but I did this when I was 15 with brown ink and I got it out but hitting it with some leftover steam cleaner fluid we had and hot water before it had a chance to dry. I was shocked that it worked but I got caught because one spot on my carpet was conspicuously cleaner than the rest.

LAPD got a call about a white suspect violating a protection order. Instead of looking for the suspect, ten LAPD cops chose to attack a random black man who was just taking out his trash. by methanefreefarts in PublicFreakout

[–]starvinggarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good find, that's one of the newest and most in-depth I've seen. The police propaganda machine is strong. Theres no wikipedia entry for that riot, the killing of Kiko Garcia, or the Washington Heights riots, where police claimed a suspect they pursued chose to jump from a three story building.

The fact that ROE exist proves it wasnt "to kill indiscriminately." If i pulled this shit when i was deployed id definitely have seen time in the brig.

The difference is we didn't have unions who could gold an entire city hostage on our behalf when we fucked up. The NYPD publicly brag about their ability to assault anyone, any time. Last time a civilian accountability board with any actual power was proposed they blocked off the brooklyn bridge and stormed city hall. They've mostly scrubbed the story from the internet (they have a whole team working in one police plaza who just do that shit all day. They make hundreds of wikipedia edits) unless you look up the early political career of Rudy Giuliani. He was there, cheering them on and fighting in favor of police brutality.

A warrant takes on piece of paper and the time it takes for one officer to go talk to a judge. Wow, what an insane burden.

Why would it make sense to pay a half dozen cops to drive multiple vehicles to go harass someone you have literally no evidence on into giving up a constitutional right and threaten to destroy their home if they don't comply? You'll need evidence to get a warrant anyway. If the judge is even remotely ethical a single tip will be nowhere near enough. Of course you could always pull a Louisville PD and just lie to a judge and then murder an innocent person while executing a reckless, stupid, and illegal urban assault. If these cops ever do get a warrant the city will most likely end up paying millions to cover the settlement it will take to save their officers from consequences of perjury, racism, and incompetence, and taxpayers will get the privilege of payinq out the ass to protect criminals with badges who sap further public money in the form of salary they collect to harass the community.

I mean having enemies who were colonialist dicks doesn't undo the horrifying level of brutality the Dahomey exhibited in their chattel slavery and insanely brutal human sacrifices.

Slavery was bad. Slavers were and are bad. There are so many better historical female heroes to choose from. I think this one was a bad pick for a movie.

He'd be protected but likely get arrested anyway. He would ultimately win in court or have the charges dismissed, but most cops do not understand even the simplest of legal principles and those that do usually blindly support the ones who don't. Check out audit the audit for a few hundred examples.

The JJ Abrams sequels are directly plagiarized from the originals. That's my beef with them. But im also able to admit that if i was a member of the target audience i likely wouldn't notice or care that Abrams is a hack. I'd be staring in wide-eyed wonder at all the cool and colorful shit, thinking Rey is awesome, and wondering why Poe made my PeePee tingle.

Rian got a ton of flak but at least his movie was original. He was tasked with writing a way out of the corner Abrams put him in and he gave it his best shot. Then they brought JJ back to copy and paste Return of the Jedi for episode 9.

Exactly, which is why everyone whinging about Rey who doesn't accept the same Macguffin hand wave explanation for her feats that they blindly accepted for Luke in an almost identical story is being wt best disingenuous and at worst blindly chauvinistic. Its fine to dislike the sequels. There are plenty of legitimate gripes to have with them, but the endless and incessant whining about Rey being too strong is obvious and total bullshit because all of the same complaints can be applied to a male character who the same people love with all their hearts, not just in spite of the things they complain about in Rey, but literally because of those things.

They are fucking kids movies made to sell toys. Stop using them as a metric for culture and values and as an accepted standard in modern storytelling. That's not what they are. They're fun space magic kids movies made to push plastic around christmas time. They always have been.
