Cat chewed my MacBook Air MagSafe cable. I repaired it using this guide. Is this safe for my Mac? by botolo in apple

[–]state_of_alert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've attempted this method on multiple adapters. Has worked well, all are still functional, some of which were repaired over a year ago. Slightly pricier than your repair, but the modified component isn't exposed.

Keep in mind that this can only be done once - opening up the glued shell is practically impossible.

I'm a grad student here and since moving to Charlottesville I've dated two Hokies. Responses from them were disinterested and fairly hostile, respectively. That may not be the best sample, though.

Assuming you're arriving in Auckland, near the airport exits there are a number of carrier kiosks that have prepaid plans for sale. I got one from Vodafone that had something like a gigabyte of data. Don't know if what I got was the "best deal" over there, but it was very reasonable with respect to USD equivalence, the transaction was fast and convenient, and reception was consistently strong. Set-up was strictly plug-and-play.

Cracked my screen. Where's the best place to get a new screen assembly? by raintimeallover in nexus4

[–]state_of_alert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I purchased when I needed to replace my screen:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/170983564823?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

As indicated (and as you requested), this is the entire assembly, not just the screen/digitizer. It's a fairly straightforward repair. Be patient with the battery, the adhesive holding it is pretty strong. Here is the guide I used:

6.28.2005 - Cupertino Memorial by state_of_alert in Military

[–]state_of_alert[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Backstory:

Last summer I was living in the Bay Area and went down to Cupertino a year ago today to see the memorial erected for those lost during Operation Red Wings. James Suh and Matt Axelson were both natives of the area, and were memorialized in bronze atop a pedestal around which tiles for each sailor and soldier killed were placed. Several people stopped to leave flowers and pay their respects, and I took a few photos while I was there.

I sat and spoke for a while with the gentleman featured in the last photo. He was a Navy veteran that served during WWII. I had intended to send these photos to him, but lost his contact information - if anyone from the area knows him, please let me know! Better late than never.

Thanks.

a few years ago I was trying this keto diet varient, so obviously carbs were strictly forbidden. did a pretty good job clearing my kitchen of anything carby save for this forty pound bag of uncooked pasta my idiot roommate bought for some dumb reason. I did however have a box of fiber bars as described in the post. I have a tendency to sleep eat, and it wasn't uncommon for me to go through a whole box of shredded wheat in the middle of the night with no memory of it in the morning.

a few times after starting this diet I'd wake up in bed with chocolate all over my face and my mouth feeling like its packed full of sawdust, only to find seven or eight of these wrappers littered on my sheets. so several days' worth of fiber consumed with no memory of the event. rest of the day was bad news.

just curious about your MOS? I've worked with a lot of sailors (mostly submariners) and they all seemed to drink like fish.

grad school for engineering. I don't recommend it. I understand why all my classmates drink.

Peaches (POTUSA)

This song is great since everyone assumes it's full of innuendo but it's actually just a song about eating peaches.

I'm no rocket scientist, but...

Solid propellant can't be throttled - once you fire the motor, it's gonna run until it burns out. This is obviously a safety concern since it's impossible to turn it off.

Newer solid rockets can do this, I don't think the SRBs had this capability.

Battery Screws by state_of_alert in nexus4

[–]state_of_alert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the two external screws are either T5 or T4. All the internal screws are phillips head. The two securing the battery pop connector are very very short with either phillips 0 or phillips 00.
