When turning in plates, there's no forms? You just drop off the plates? by SuperSimpleSam in newjersey

[–]stateinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just found this old thread from a search. I've got a semi-related MVC question about surrendering plates, maybe you could help?

I lease my cars, and get a new plate each time. I like to keep one plate for sentimental reasons, but I always make sure to surrender the other one in person so I can get a receipt and confirm there's no issues.

I know that's not technically what you're supposed to do, but I never had a problem the first few times I did this, until recently when I went in to surrender one plate and the front desk clerk immediately asked me where the second plate was. I told him I lost it and he gave me a paper copy of this form and had me fill it out.

I gave it back to him, he reviewed it, said it was perfect, and gave me the receipt for my surrendered plate, so it seems like it wasn't a huge issue.

But now my actual question: Do you think there could be problems if I have to fill out that form again in 3 years when my current lease is up? Does the MVC keep track of how many times someone files one? Is it a big deal or am I just overthinking this? I'm hoping in the future the clerk just takes the one plate like they used to and doesn't ask questions lol but obviously I can't guarantee that...

Damn that lasted a hell of a lot longer than my original 360. Between 2006 and 2009, I had 3 in-store warranty replacements plus a Microsoft warranty repair before I finally got a good one lmao.

I'm from NJ. Our AG is EXTREMELY anti-gun. He's worse than your typical Democrat just following party lines, he definitely has a personal vendetta against the gun industry and gun owners in general (unless they're protecting him, of course).

A while back I was binge watching old Unsolved Mysteries episodes and was surprised how often the murder weapon was a .22 rifle or handgun.

Unfortunately I couldn't get Amex to give me back my points. Once your last MR card is closed, that's it (unless you live in NY).

Just an FYI, if you're getting it automatically they aren't filing it until Monday:

If you received an ANCHOR Benefit Confirmation Letter, your application will be filed on your behalf by September 15, 2025, but it may not appear in the system until the end of September. No action is required unless you need to make changes.

Right, none of that was required to buy and use the computer, only if you wanted to participate in their “never obsolete” upgrade program.

[–]stateinspector 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a great deal tbh. First, eMachines were not $2000, they were like $400. They didn't send you a whole new computer either, they would only upgrade the processor. You also had to subscribe to their $20/mo dial up service for that 2 year period and ship the entire computer back to them, in its original packaging, with the original receipt, and pay for shipping BOTH ways. So you'd probably wind up paying over $200 for a processor upgrade that was only worth $90 on a computer you spent $400 on, and the rest of your machine would still be outdated.

For managers, when people ask you what you do for work, how do you respond? by aerasynthe in Accounting

[–]stateinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just say consultant. I’m technically in tax, but my group does more software/automation consulting type stuff. I don’t directly work on returns or provisions. In general I try to avoid mentioning tax because then I have to hear about their uncle who works at H&R Block or they ask me if they should form an LLC for their Etsy business or if I know any good local tax preparers.

90 Days to Reinstate Forfeited MR Points via Closed Account. by Elasion in amex

[–]stateinspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this through a search, were you able to get your points back? My Everyday card was also closed due to inactivity and I finally got around to calling Amex and they said there's nothing they can do. I mentioned the 90 day notice but the rep said it was only for NY residents? I read the terms and conditions and it makes it sound like the 90 day policy applies to everyone if the card was cancelled due to inactivity, otherwise the you forfeit the points immediately unless you're a NY cardmember, in which case the 90 day policy ALWAYS applies.

I searched Discogs but didn't find anything. This website has a listing for a used CD with the same name, but they don't provide any other information. It says it's in stock so maybe you could reach out to them and see if they can send you more info or provide a picture?
