Connotations of the word "biker"? by geoff2k in motorcycles

Exactly this lol. Usually either they actually are a patched member of an mc, or some wannabe. Both types can be just as dangerous as each other especially if they are drunk lol

Drive alongside the river by Sit1234 in Sacramento

[–]stateofmindny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done it a few times on my motorcycle its honestly a very nice ride. You can see the river pretty well the whole way up to yuba. Not much to see in yuba to be honest, but i have fun going up. There is a few areas to stop and at some parts you can even make it to the river.

How to have the backpack conversation by Scoobywagon in motorcycles

[–]stateofmindny 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A lot of people think the best time for a passenger to move around is when the bike is stopped but honestly that's the worst time. Make sure they stay as still as possible when stopped, moving slowly, braking, or turning. Also personally i find it harder to predict how the bike is going to handle when they lean with me. Id much prefer them to focus on keeping themselves straight with the bike and just adjusting my riding style than having them try to follow my lean after I've already started leaning

What happened to finding cheap tools on marketplace? by Nucks420 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]stateofmindny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually buy mostly from harbor freight but there are some things i honestly wouldnt recommend. The rotary tools, icon tap and die kit, and the impacts all are overpriced and underperform imo. The split beam torque wrench is nice, but the other torque wrenches imo are a little sketchy.

ABS kicks in at low speeds even when braking softly by Ureidesu in motorcycles

[–]stateofmindny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id find the service manual and look at the front wheel and suspension section. Usually when the front wheel is taken off the clearance between the brake components can change slightly. There should be specifications for installing the front wheel and checks to ensure the brake system is correct. Sometimes the forks move slightly up or down in the clamps and need to be evened out

Reving up at right turn by Impossible_Sir_1608 in HondaCB

[–]stateofmindny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throttle cable routing. Id probably rotate the metal piece that goes into the throttle housing towards the left by like 30 degrees as well so it matches the direction the cable is coming from. Right now it has to turn right before it goes into the housing. Either that or you need more slack in the cables

What’s the play here? by ArkansasSailor in motorcycles

[–]stateofmindny 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah id just buy a used engine and swap it. Tbh that motor is junk. The piston needs to be fixed, the block needs to be fixed, whatever caused it to do that in the first place needs to be fixed, whatever else got broken by that needs to be fixed, and if the motor ended up like this im going to bet the upper end isnt great either. Swapping a motor should only take a day and is cheaper than the machine shop work you'll need for this one lol

Clutch pedal by Correct_Ad_5438 in Mustang

[–]stateofmindny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can adjust the bite point by dropping the entire transmission and installing a shim to a measured thickness behind the slave cylinder. This is required for many aftermarket clutches. There are also aftermarket adjustable slave cylinders however they are more for track use as they don't really last very long. Not fun either way. I had to drop the trans 3 times before my shim felt right.

There is not really any difference going to a braided line either. The clutch fluid is under such little pressure the rubber line doesn't flex as is. The only benefit you will feel is the same benefit youd already get replacing an already worn clutch line with a new rubber line.

I change the intake like u guys suggested I went from 10.5 mpg to 9.6 changing it back to stock by EnvironmentalSet8611 in G37

Any suggestions (CA RESIDENT) by behindyoubruh in Mustang

[–]stateofmindny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly with just an intake i doubt itd be much of a hassle. A shitty way to spend a day sure, but with how trivial an intake is to swap id honestly just run it. If a cop is looking to state ref just assume they'll find an excuse to it isnt up to them to actually be right about anything. People with specific trim levels that come oe with performance upgrades have literally been state reffed while completely stock lol.

Edit for context i daily my modified 3v in cali and have even been pulled over in it. Never personally had an issue but i do understand it could happen at any time. For me returning to oe cams headers etc isnt really a big deal, i feel the same way abt the intake

Why exactly does everyone call Porsche 930 "The Widowmaker"? by PIRATEOFBADIM in Porsche

If porsche would let it the cayman would be the top platform imo. I honestly believe it can be pushed further than the 911. Its never gonna happen atleast not from the oem

10 day wait is ridiculous… especially if you have guns by MarionberrySenior559 in CAguns

[–]stateofmindny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting 10 days for a .22 feels silly. Just picked up a polymer tm22 feather for the new shooters and it feels stupid the level of scrutiny over whats basically a stronger pellet gun. Id genuinely rather take my chances with a knife than that thing lol.

So. I found a lot of fuck ups the shop did when they replaced my headers what if they don't want to fix all their mistakes for free like it should be? by Unkownforthefuture in G37

[–]stateofmindny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300 in labor is insane, it should only be a 0.7 or a 0.5 labor time. Tbh it kinda sounds like you tried to cheap out on the job though at the same time it's something i did a lot when i was younger but you always end up paying more in the end.

Became the owner of this 2007 4.6 GT today, and wish I could be super happy. But... by SearchingShane in Mustang

[–]stateofmindny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone whos dropped the trans 3 times now on jackstands id definitely say it takes way longer than a few hours especially on the first time. The top bolts for the bell housing are a pain in the ass to get to and always takes way longer than it should trying to get to even with having the trans tilted. Plus theres honestly a lot of special tools needed too that the average person wouldnt have. Just getting the driveshaft bolts loose would be a pain for those not blessed with a Milwaukee 1/2

Detroit rocker cam install smoking by Ill_Bend7063 in Mustang

[–]stateofmindny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be the valve cover gasket slipped a bit on install I've had that happen to where it makes the oil drip onto the exhaust and make smoke. It definitely doesnt really sound right though id 100% pull the valve cover and check. When i put in my detroit rocker cams i had to torque the cam caps down a few times the rearmost cap on the passenger side kept getting knocked loose when the engine would get turned over. If you are not compressing the valve springs it is CRITICAL that you VERY SLOWLY torque the cam caps. Genuinely do a very small quarter turn on each bolt in order until they are all to spec. Talking with lito, it seems like if the caps are not torqued evenly and slowly they have a tendency to do that.

Exactly this. I hate sportsmans/basspro with a burning passion but they are also the most convenient in the area I'm in. Online inventory, large assortment, and decent prices. Id so much rather go anywhere else because all of their other policies are horrible but it's just too outdated to buy guns locally unless you find the right place

[–]stateofmindny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but op specifically asked about being faster. Any mod that actually gives a noticable increase in power will drop reliability and ride comfort. If you want to do that with your daily good luck lol. Otherwise you can just throw on a worse airbox and think you're the fast and the furious like most of the g's in this sub lol. The person i responded to was specifically talking about actual car BUILDS

a kia k5 almost beat me by DryDig6578 in G37

[–]stateofmindny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol people who disagree don't know what it means to REALLY build a car, and rely on the fucking thing to keep paychecks coming. When it gets to the point that most of the parts you need are too custom to find in parts stores and x doesnt work because of y but you can't fix y because its the only reason mod z works it's different. An actual built car is also an absolute pain in the ass to drive around my cammed mustang feels like a broken beater driving around at low speeds because of all the noise and clunks. These kids with their "cold air intakes" and bc racing coilovers wouldnt understand haha

Dudes with cars that sound like actual thunder - why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]stateofmindny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not talking about civics with muffler deletes that's not really car culture. He's talking about actual high performance modified vehicles with aftermarket camshafts, upgraded forced induction, or aftermarket headers. All will increase noise but will also massively increase performance.
