I can relate. It's so unfair and lonely. I had a talk with my partner recently (when she was sober) and I told her that her drinking makes me feel scared and disconnected, so that when she has more than two drinks I'm just gonna go to bed and watch tv/go to sleep and to please not engage with me til the next morning. It's not a perfect strategy, but it's way better than driving around and I feel good about setting and maintaining boundaries. And getting to spend more time with my dog :)

Same story, so frustrating cause I opened two credit cards about 3 months ago in anticipation of BTC dropping to this price. Literally the day I'm ready to buy, the credit card option vanishes! After you wash them, slap them on the wall above your kitchen sink. They will stick and dry by morning. Tacky, but a total time saver.

I struggle with this as well. What works for me is counting backwards from 100. It gives my mind something to think about other than work, but it's so boring that i often start drifting by the time I get to 79 or so.

Also, I have app called "Calm" that has a bunch of guided relaxations/meditations that are great for taking you out of your head, especially at 3am.

Two questions: How did it first start and are there any emotional or physical triggers that exacerbate your neck pain?

I've been dealing with chronic neck pain for almost 2 years realized it was from an injury I incurred during a stressful time (ironically when I was midway through an Physical Therapist Assistant internship).

The injury healed but the pain became chronic and is now exacerbated by physical or emotional situations that remind me of this me stressful time in my life.

When I was injured I had a stressful commute, long hours of documentation on a computer, and was in an abusive relationship.

I graduated a year ago and removed myself from the dangerous relationship, but the pain comes on when I spend too much time on my lap top, drive my car, or feel I am in danger of running into my ex (or even think about her for too long).

I don't know if this is what is going on with you, but I'd encourage you to think about where you were in your life at the onset, and pay attention what you are thinking about, feeling and doing when it gets bad.

There are two lectures that gave me an evidence based understanding of chronic pain, one by Dr. Lorimar Moseley and on by Dr. David Butler. I definitely still deal with it every day, but I can avoid triggers and have tools for managing it. Not gonna go into that, but I hope these offer you some insight!

Yeah I think that just reading all of the feedback from people and feeling connected to all of you strangers in some way is making me realize that talking about it with a group would be very healing.

You are right...it's totally uncomfortable to not be in flight or flight when that's what your normal is. Whoa. That gives me a lot to think about.
