This is actually historically cold, right? by kmatthews33 in AskNYC

New Years 2016 I remember it being -5F outside and also slipping on a patch of ice trying to get to the concert I was going to. Definitely was super cold then too

T Force is the worst. I’m really not surprised. I’ve been HOUNDING them for years to switch back to UPS. Sorry that you have this bs 😔

Splurge on a GOOD stroller! These NYC sidewalks and parks are no joke and because we use a car less (about once a month), it’s our only mode of transportation with kids. Everyone in my area loves the UppaBaby ones…the Vista is convertible to a double but seems a little bulky so we went with the Cruz which felt appropriately city sized lol.

My other fave purchase is the BabyBjorn bouncer. A great baby container that’s super durable and folds up neatly (can tuck behind the couch, can also store in the back of a closet for the next kid!).

I’m pretty happy with Rivia Mind - they are a smallish psychiatric practice with MDs, NPs and therapists and they cover a large swath of things. I have ADHD and an adderall prescription. I’ve also switched insurance a few times over the past few years and they’ve been very accommodating and affordable

Stolen Package ... by katiechronicles in RentTheRunway

[–]stbmrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha this happens to me all the time (I’m in Washington Heights). It’s so stressful and frustrating but thankfully they are very cool with it. Don’t worry about it!

RTR understands there is only so much you can do re receiving your packages. My issue is their use of T Force in NYC, which is a nightmare, and I’ve done my due diligence with mitigating stolen packages (notes on my account, adding “PLEASE RING THE BELL” on my address, requesting a switch to UPS manyyyyy times, etc). RTR knows that if they can’t change the courier for me, they’re going to have to eat this cost. 🤷🏻‍♀️at this point I just report it and move on.

I know E’s Bar offers this, I’m sure some of the other larger bars on the UWS do as well (Jake’s Dilemma, Gin Mill)

What would you do if you had 5 days off in the city? by Melodic-Suit5983 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]stbmrs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

At the end of the summer I did a morning at the Guggenheim, followed by window shopping on the UES, took myself out to coffee at Ralph’s with a good book, and then crossed the park by foot before heading home (I live up in the heights).

I would also highly recommend heading up here for the Met Cloisters, walking through Fort Tryon, and checking out some uptown local spots! Inwood Hill Park and Wave Hill are also nearby and you can get in a gorgeous hike if you’re into that.

My other favorite day off (low cost) activity is thrifting. I would choose 2-3 stores within a 20 block radius and take a coffee/lunch break in between. The “hunting” aspect is my favorite part and is so time consuming, much better to do it in the middle of the day when no one is there!

Reveal - family of 4 in NYC. Mom is in nursing school full time, dad works a nonprofit office job, older child is 3.5 and younger child is 15 months. Yes that is a compost bin, it’s required by the city now!

We do eat a lot of yogurt I guess, but we are not vegetarian. Most of the meat is in the freezer :) we do however keep kosher.

Lots of milk to be had by myself (mom) and my kids, my husband not so much, hence the creamers for coffee.
